Hogan surprised me last night. He was very good. Didnt think it was an out right robbery but fight could of gone either way imo. Hope he gets a crack at vacant title. Wel done Dennis.

Gave up watching it after 8 rounds....of which I couldn't give Hogan even one. Dreadful scuffle. Unless Hogan knocked munguia down 17 times in the last four, then he can't have a case. Hogan is fit, I'll give him that much, but he is a terrible boxer. Not bad, terrible. In the first 8 I don't think he landed a clean punch of note. They're both useless, but munguia is only a kid. If spike was as fit as Hogan he'd be unbeatable. Be a good fight ...Hogan v spike ...

I haven't watched the fight, but haven't read one article that said Hogan didn't deserve to win, obviously Len doesn't know how to score a fight.

So on the basis of one fight ....which you admit you haven't watched....and I have...you say it's "obvious" I don't know how to score a fight?

    Nice logic there Marty.

In the interest of fairness I rewatched the whole fight, and Hogan did win some rounds....( The things I do for my country eh?!)..he finished very strongly. His footwork was excellent, his fitness was excellent, and he never lost his shape throughout the whole 12 rounds. But honestly he didn't throw, never mind land, enough punches. He did pick some nice little taps in between Munguias wild swings but they would not knock the skin of a rice pudding! (Scored it very loosely 116_112 8-4 to Munguia in case you're interested Marty) but the rounds were all alike , very hard to score.
No way,....no way...did Hogan win that fight.
(As a sidesnote Munguia is a fit young lad too and may have been weight-drained. But he is very overrated. Any one of the good light middleweight lads beats him and he will get absolutely creamed at 160. He has no defence at all. None. Bit Like Andy Lee in that regard.... without the punch...so lads will just walk through him at 160 and squash him).

Rumours flying around that Joe Ward won’t hang around until Tokyo. He’s considering ditching the vest. Thoughts?

He appears lazy in his attitude, might not have the temperament for the pro game.

I've since watched the fight. Thought Hogan won by at least two rounds.

That’s a perfectly valid opinion Marty. As I said the rounds were pretty much all the same...hogan circling and landing 2-3 love-taps per round with Munguia chasing him swinging and mostly missing . But just remember you’re not a judge scoring a Mexican in a title defense in Mexico. Hogan wasn’t doing enough. No way did he do enough time take the title from a Mexican in Mexico.
Munguia will lose to the first live opponent with power he faces. Can you imagine what ggg Canelo Jacobs or the charlos would do to him?
For 34 hogan is seriously tough and fit tho I’ll give him that.

I would have thought the same. Big commitment needed for the step up in conditioning etc.
Hard to believe he’s still so young though. 25 years old - he’s been around forever.

With so many supposed "top prospects" fallen by the wayside in recent years I'm starting to despair of ever seeing us uproduce another genuine world class operator...with star quality......a true star that really can compete at world class level. It's starting to get depressing. After frampton who is there? Ryan Burnett? And after him???? I'm talking true world class now. With star quality. So where is the next Barry McGuigan?

Yes, I'm thinking it might be time to shut down the Irish boxing thread.

On account of most of the best Irish fighters being based in Australia.

For those despairing at not having a genuine star to follow, relax.

The championship reign of Andrew "Leprechaun" Moloney will begin soon.
