Yeah would be great, big fight in Dublin Taylor - Cameron and say Doheny - Dogboe. Is the money there though.

Doheny was good. Showed good ring IQ and tough as old boots. Deffo has another world title in him.

It would take the money from Sky to do it, it's more than possible. Doheny and Frampton would be some fight, or Burnett. Could fill stadiums, definitely fill large arenas.
One thing for sure any talented Irish amateur looking to turn pro should consider Australia as a possible platform for his career. Who would have thought Doheny and Hogan would have achieved so much. The Australian training regime is doing something right, as I can't imagine these lads prospering if they had of stayed in Ireland or travelled to the UK.

Weather is great there. Sydney's a fantastic place to live. Loads of Irish around Coogee and Bondi and for good reason!

Maybe it’s the weather encouraging more outdoor training More advanced sports science or whatever but Aussie sportsmen have always had a very high standard of fitness. (As for Sydney it’s supposed to be great but I hear you can never aspire to owning your own house unless you win three world titles or the lotto.).

The country is sports mad, the weather's fantastic, everyone's outside running or swimming etc, food's great. Sporty persons dream. Sydney is fantastic but yes, can prove an expensive city to live.

Nothing wrong with Irish AM boxing they get way more international exp than Aust AM boxers. Both a young TJ and Hogan were on the same Irish AM team that visited Aust. However both fighters have said they moved to Aust because they were burnt out. And Aust gave them fresh start without the shackles back home .
That's why 6 x Irish AM Champ Conor Wallace moved to Aust. He is creating a lot of excitement in his adapted State of Queensland and i don't know yet if he can tell a punch but he could well be the next Irish World Champ coming out of Aust.

DDP Dennis Hogan promoter's if he defeated Munguia was planning a all Irish mega fight in Ireland with Spike O ' Sullivan.

I'm from the UK Marty, albeit from Irish ancestry hence me hanging around this thread! I don't get over there as often as I'd like, but I did read about the aggro at the boxing, is that still going on? I really liked the idea of Matchroom staging a big event in Dublin for Doheny, but am wondering if theyre put off by what's happened in recent years?

The trouble at the boxing as you call it is exaggerated holler. You’re unlikely to come to any harm at a boxing event in Ireland. You’d be far more at revolution so in an Irish hospital!! You can’t be too careful though so as a precaution I bring the missus ( in case I need a human shield :) ) .....

I know it's the nature of reporting that things can get exaggerated, but there was a shooting awhile back at a weigh in I think and some suggestion that a turf war between gangs had spilled over into boxing? Is that all done now?

Can’t guarantee but unlikely to happen again I’d say holler. This country is a complete banana republic. Just take your example. One of the shooters was photographed in broad daylight walking out of the crime scene with the gun in his hand! Got off Scott free. Scott free. You cudden make it up!

Good news that it's calmed down. Although I tend to avoid larger shows anyway, much happier at a smaller event even if the fighters aren't household names. I hope the Doheny idea come off though. He put up a good challenge and it would be good to see him fighting in front of a home crowd.

There's no reason why Matchroom can't run a show other than Hearn is more interested in whats going on in America. I don't think there is any security issues to worry for that outfit. Truth is I wouldn't worry about any security problems. Think most of that is finished (I hope ).

MTK boxing events have been given the cold shoulder by most media coverage in the Republic, therefore resulting in a self imposed exile by MTK group. I think that needs to change to help the sport here.
