Another 2 of our lower tier boxers beaten tonight in Scotland for celtic titles, Dylan Mc Donagh and Keane Mc Mahon we seem to becoming a country from which you bring in game opponents for your up and comers to beat, and why not the irish lads will always show up to fight and fair play to the lads if they are getting paid, And before anyone gets up i arms i have irish pro boxers on 3 teirs as i see it, 1, Good lads that have a promoter and a good contract that pays well, for these guys boxing is wothwhile financially with a good amateur perdigree (Burnett, Frampton are 2 for example) 2 Decent lads that have won amateur titles and have good exposure so are being looked after by promoters but prob not making much if anything out of the sport but could well break through with one big fight (eric donovan luke keeler paddy barnes) 3 Lads that prob never had the quality to do much at amateur level but are good game fighters and will entertain, these lads not only dont usually get paid per say but have to cover their opponents cost through ticket sales aswell, over time they may make a few bob as an away fighter just like the lads did tonight but are prob in it for the love and the exposure it brings them,
At best they got a pay day and valuable experience. Some times you can learn more from a defeat than several victories.
I agree they have nothing to gain by going 10-0 against sub standard bulgarian binmen as it is now they will still get on bills here anyway as long as they can sell enough tickets so wy not take the queens shilling?
Conor Wallace 6 x Irish Am Champ by next yr will be the fourth Irish born Aust based boxer on Irish P4P list. This content is protected
Wallace is in astute hands. His manager , coach and promoter Steve Deller worked with Hogan as he won a number of regional belts and reached world level before Hogan left to set up DDP Promotions. Wallace already owns a win against NSW State Champ who next fight fights for Aust Title against Reagan Dessalix who is world rated. Wallace next fight is 25 May and then he defend hIs QLD State Title 27 July. Deller is not a one to make bold predictions but he predicts Wallace will become World Champ one day.
There were big things expected from Wallace in the IABA good lad big for the size and can punch with either hand, there is a reason he is OZ though
What I like about the Irish Australian boxers is that they are kept busy. If we had regular shows here, some of our boxers would have more success.
https://www.*******.com/nikitin-conlan-regret-this-i-beat-him-twice-ill-win-again--139019 In the immediate aftermath of Rio I wudda been excited but not now. Conlon is no great shakes, but at least he has continued to improve as a pro. Nikitin has plateaued or in fact if anything even regressed since Rio! I don't think it will be a good fight at all. If conlon loses its all over for him. So no, I'm not excited.
I am excited as id say it will be a great night, i agree wit your assessment of the fighters however but hype is a great thing and the winner will be lauded more than they possibly should be and moved along after this fight, Not sure about Conlans digs at Niktin about revenge and being gunning for him etc, bad decision ok but the Russian didnt judge the fight he meerly participated in it and to say he shouldnt have celebrated like iv heard in the past is balls he had just won an Olympic medal and all that goes with it in Russia That said i think he will play his part as the villian very well in the lead up and on the night of the fight, Might just pop along...
Unless nikitin improves dramatically I can't see Mick losing. Unless it's a war of attrition I can't see nikitin winning.
