A nice check out for Spike who has used the social media/ character side of boxing better than any Iirsh fighter in history to get into positions that his talent alone never would have got him into, BJS schooled him,Junior battered him into submission and Lemieux got him out inside 1 round,
The fact that spike has used Craig O Brien and Vlad beluski as sparring partners to fight the undeafeted champion of the world will tell you what he even thinks of his chances,

 

Yes but this is Munguia. Not super slick prime young BJS, super fit granite hard CEJ or sledgehammer fisted Lemme. Munguia is, shall we say , "defensively challenged". Lacks power too. Could it be fourth time lucky in big fights for Spike? Probably not I know, realistically, but just think if Spike and Luke both won??!!! I think it'll be good while it lasts. Spike has nothing to lose. Might as well go for it. War spike!

 

I think a lot of people on here are underestimating Munguia and overestimating spike, People talk about Spikes powerfull punching but at this level he doesnt have any really, Gary hits hard but doesnt have one punch take out power,he is very basic really which makes the fact that he was able to talk himself into these positions in the first place all the more remarkable and comendable,in fact i saw today he and his team are calling out canelo after this one Some set on him..

 

Munguia is a runaway favourite. I don't think he's being underestimated. Overestimated if anything. He's quite poor actually. But yeah he should have too much for spike. Spike has no choice but to go for it though. He won't win on points. Hogan proved that. So it could be fun while it lasts.

 

Can't see Spike doing too well either, although he does have a punchers chance. The odds on this fight pretty much sums up the contest.

 

Munguia was awful v Hogan. Is Hogan much better than spike? Better boxer yes, but Spike can hurt Munguia, something Hogan could never do. This might be more competitive than people think.

 

There seems to be many a suggestion after the Hogan fight that Munguia was shot from making LMW.
Will he be a different animal at middleweight? I hope Spike gives him hell

 

Spike did ok for the first half dozen rounds. The gassed and got beat up. Probably shouldn't have been allowed to on so long. Let's hope Luke has more success Vs Andrade......

 

Unlucky for Spike, no shame in losing to a quality fighter.
Irish American Joe Smith jr had a good win against Jesse Hart. Probably going to fight for the vacant WBO title next.

 

Just saw the DAZN highlights jaysus Spike took a beating last night, Boxing is about levels, Spike has a house bought for himself and his family and will be ok if he hangs them up now..i hope he does ,hes a fierce nice fella,

 

Yeah I'm not too happy with the Collins' corner work. Bit too brave for my liking. Shouldn't have been allowed to go on as long as it was. Spikes taking a break but he says golden boy have promised him a title fight at 154.....so he could be tempted back for more at 35.....

 

Pascal Collins out already today telling which guy they want Spike to box for the world title in the summer.
You gotta love the sheer balls on these guys.

 

What about Luke though?.....

 

Luke is our most improved fighter in the last 3 years or so definitely since hooking up with Taylor but it really is a huge ask.
Skill speed power all seem to be against him but he is bull strong and very determined
I wasnt expecting him to beat Luis arias but he pulled it off thos however would be the biggest irish upset of all time I think.
