Duddys performance was good against a fringe contender. He lost concentration in the final round, but can more than handle a few punches. Overall a B+ effort.

The main thing is, Duddy marches on.

I did feel a bit nervous at times but i suppose thats natural when its the person you support but i have a feeling that he may need a few more fights before he goes for a title . I hope arum dosent tempt him to take a fight with pavlik as has been rumoured

Yeah Dunne, I think we would all be happy if John avoided Pavlik, but money talks.:-(

nope, he'll get ****ing banjoed big style if he does. if he is going to persist with this working behind the jab stuff then he needs a fight or two to polish it a bit.

I hope not - unless he just wants a pay check.

JCCJ would be a better fight

Before Andy Lee was beaten by vera Manny Stewart said the route was supposed to be vera gibbs then rubio. Now after rubio was beaten by pavlik i think this would be a good one for Andy in the summer.
Take care of Echols first obviously then another one in Ireland (Eastman would be great)then rubio in the summer. If this were to happen i think andy would have to be in all the top tens by Autumn...Then who knows

A preview in yesterdays Belfast Telegraph had Pat Burns restating that Duddy's future is at light-middle.

But Bob Arum is trying to rebuild Pavik with a couple of supposedly easy wins for his man, and he believes our man Duddy, a high profile but limited boxer[ in old Bobs opinion] is the perfect opponent. I don't believe it would be as easy as what some people are claiming. Pavlik's footwork is woeful, and his boxing ability isn't great either. But what huge advantage he has over most of his[and particularly Duddy] fellow middleweights is size. Kelly is a massive middle, and throw in his high workrate and power, then you have a champion that will be hard to dethrone. The $$ talks and the right offer from Arum might persuade team Duddy to shelve his light-middle plans for the moment, and tempt "the Derry Destroyer" to a middleweight championship tussle with "the ghost".I expect Duddy to grasp the opportunity to challenge one of the best known boxers in the world, and the healthy paycheque that accompanies it. A win is certainly not beyond him.
