Thats a good article, but thats face it he needs to wise up and just ignore the media[laugh it off]. I cant imagine the stress hes under but what he has done recently has added fuel to the fire. Its gonna be worse when he eventually resurfaces, and hes brought that all on himself.:-(

egan should just go pro and make a few quid for a rainy day. hes done the peak of amateur boxing and should take advantage of his popularity in the dublin area, twin bills with bernard dunne maybe. i just hope he hasnt ****ed it all up with this carry on.

hes 26 for f*** sake, grow up. u go out to places where you know cameras are probably going to be dont moan when a photo is taken or a stupid story written. on second thoughts perhaps he should stay in the am's----

if he cant handle the pressure at this stage and go's AWOL then hes not gona be mature and honest enough to make it to the top as a professional, cameras and all

Yeah agreed, Michael Carruth won a gold and he did not court the media the way Egan has since he came back from Beijing.
Like you said,he is a big boy and in fairness he could have dealt with all this a bit better.
Is Taylor still on the 02 card btw?

I watched DeGale fight on Saturday. He was ok, unfairly jeered by some in the crowd. Our own Darren Sutherland fights on Friday, which will be interesting in that obvious comparisons will be made with DeGale. I think Sutherland will bust up DeGale when they eventually meet again.Does anyone else have a view on this???, and what road Should Maloney take with Darren??. Should Darren pursue the Irish title or Commonwealth title or both before looking for the bigger titles???:think

I agree - he is caught in a gold fish bowl - where he is a big fish in a wee pond. He need to "do a Khan" and feck off to Freddie Roach for three years and build a career and get some space and perspective on life and his "fame" in Ireland

I just noticed that Henry Coyle is fighting another stiff in Chicago March 27th - they are moving very slowly with this kid.And still no word on Michael Sweeney - i thought he was lined up to fight here next week

I don't think Sutherland can fight for a commonwealth title... I stand to be corrected on that though!

was talking to wayne the other night i know he would agree with everything you said, I know i do. He wasnt bitching about it I specifically asked him.
Wayne made a stupid mistake and i feel he learned from it.

While I agree hes getting on in years. I feel that if he wants to fight he should be allowed.

I feel the only way wayne will call it a day is if he is decisively beaten and that hasnt happened yet dispite what scorecards have said in the past.

While Wayne doesnt have to prove anything to anyone i get the impression he just wants to fight for himself

His father is from Saint Vincent.......he's eligible.
He obviously can't fight for the British though.

No offence to Henry Coyle but the reason he's fighting a limited opponent is because Henry himself is limited. At just 21 he has plenty of time to improve, but I can see why they are managing him like they are. An early loss isn't necessarily any harm but there's no need for too many losses early on, it can break fighters hearts.

Agreed , The only time i saw coyle fight was in breaffy and after all the talk of his power i was dissapointed he was very wild and with a lack of power . He won but not very convincing imo.

anyone see the bbc programme last night on breens gym / martin rogan...it was a superb program..i enjoyed it a lot...especially seeing all the hasstle wih the gloves before the skelton fight.
a few times now i have heard the rogan camp call skelton 'the no.6 in the world' whats all that about ?
and...i couldnt understand what john breen said that rogan said when he came back to the corner at the end of the 10th round...i must play that bit back today.

also great hearing dave mc auley's memories about sparring in the gym.

It was an immensely enjoyable feature. Many a day I've had a "sup" in the Monaco bar. I found it interesting what he had to say about Neil Sinclair. I agree that Neil should have been a world champion.Sinky should have been up there with the very best. I'd love to see him fight the winner of O'Donnell/Watson, but I have a feeling Haughian will get there before him.
