I am not very familiar with Australia's boxing scene and i can't really think of a an Austalian fighter who promoted his Irish heritage. I also want to make clear that Irish Americans who use the nickname in no way are denouncing or are not proud to be American. Like I said its just a tradition.

Kiwi is not Australian ml, it is New Zealand. I am the proudest irish/kiwi in New Zealand of his Irish heritage. I have an Irish passport and I visit me das hometown of Limerick from time to time. I also root for the All Blacks on the rugby scene/and of course the winning NZ sevens. I was brought up in New Zealand but I'm 'irish' at heart and mind.

Does anybody know anything about the Cuban heavyweight exile Mike Perez who is fighting out of Cork. I think I read somewhere that he is a previous junior world heavyweight champion. It would add an extra bit of spice to the Irish boxing scene if a guy like this could prove himself on the European or even world stage. I know that I'm being a bit presumptuous but who knows.

i don't think it'll be in the t.f. I read in the western people (mayo paper that henry coyle writes articles for) that that it'll be in some other place in mayo. I don't know how to post links but it's somewhere in the papers website. No i've never fight but i remember he used to train youngsters in rosmuc. Yes sweeney trains with mannion but he did do some training with manny steward for 2 weeks after christmas.

Hello ML, no Irishman would or should be offended by an American of Irish heritage describing themselves as Irish-American.My own personal opinion is the likes of yourself and Shamrock are members of the extended Irish nation. You certainly dont have to be born in Ireland to be Irish. Now all together, UP THE IRISH.

I would imagine that because De La Hoya as reemployed Mayweather sn, that he hasn,t the time for Macklin. This is only an opinion, I haven't read this anywhere.
