Spare ticket for the Dunne fight needed.Gis a shout if ya have a spare or know where to get one - its for my brother and its a bit late to hassle one of the Rocks to sort it out
2 was the start time. Hopefully someone who went will report back here soon enough after. Might be up on cormacs site or even peters site
Im stuck in work the bird i work with called in sick yesterday so im by myself and couldnt take my half day....gutted wanted to see what Dunne looked like. If i get a press release ill post it up here.
Were you there? Not disagreeing with you because it seemed pretty obvious to me that he was/is. I'd just like to have it confirmed by someone that has seen him close up. I know lads on here want to be positive and I don't disagree that Bernard should get anything less than our full and very vocal support. I don't agree with all this 'think positive and everything will be alright' stuff. I come on here to talk to you lads because you all know your stuff and share a passion for Irish boxing. This is THE place to talk about stuff like this. Saturday night will be all about giving him our support but there is no point in trying to pull the wool over our own eyes on here. So if SouthpawSlayer or anyone else that comes on here could give an honest appraisal of how he looked up close then please let us know. And one final thing. This is the week of Bernards world title crack. So saying 'he's not as bad as we thought' or 'he's a bit better in person than he was on tv' or whatever isn't good enough. Am I not the only one who thinks we should have been talking about how fantastic he looked and not the opposite
ur 100% correct ...theres no point burying ur head in the sand...i just hope team dunne have got it right...most fighters look unhealthy coming up 2 the weight-in...but of course being 2 weight drained will spell diaster :good
Right I haven't heard anything off anyone reliable. Some ****ing clown just text me saying Dunne didn't make the weight first time. I have a strong feeling it's just some **** taking the ****. Has anyone heard any real or verifiable news about how it went?
I have a sneaky suspicion that dunne being weight drained is just some master plot to unsettle cordoba. lets not forget dunne had opertunities to fight for a world title up at FW either that or his team have seriously messed up
Just talked to someone reliable who was there, said Bernard had to take off his kaks to make the weight, but that's not altogether unusual. The same fella said he didn't look bad at all. Not that he looked brilliant, mind, but not bad. Blue Shinners and Mike McGurn, etc, whoever, will surely have a plan to replenish in the next 28 or so hours. I love your passion, BamBam, and the fact that you tell it like you see it. I'm not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes, or reckon it'll be alright on the night if we say so. But I will say Bernard has a lot more going for him in this fight than we reckon. Cordoba is gunshy because of a tragedy 14 fights or so ago (after the Cabellero fight), Bernard can box with the best of them, and he has trained harder than ever. Bernard, for all I admire him, can be a little averse to training in the past from what I hear. Not so this time. He can win this fight. The odds are stacked, but that will help the psychology. Could Cordoba remember how he lost abroad in fishy circumstances before and perhaps be forced into taking an unnecessary risk, and perhaps an error egregious enough for Bernard to pounce on? The loss against Martinez will be to his advantage, I reckon. No gung-ho, no machismo in trying to fire back if in trouble in the first round or two. Hold, hold, hold. He learned his lesson - he's a smart fella, is Bernard. I never said it will happen for sure, but do I write him off? Not in a million years. I still believe he has a great chance.
Barry McGuigan thinks Dunne can do it :happy:happy http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=19147&more=1
No thats fair point Podge. I hope to god that McGurn and the rest of the team have this one nailed down to a tee. I have serious worries that they do not but my fingers (and every other thing I can manage) is crossed. I do think the Martinez thing should stand him in good stead. Hold, hold and hold again is right! He held pretty well against Faccio when he got buzzed. I do believe he has trained harder than ever and if he comes through alright weight wise he'll have a reasonable chance of doing it Stripping down to the nip to make weight is nothing I'd be worried about. I guess a lot hinges on the next 24-28 hours. If they have it down to a tee then Bernard will do himself justice at the very least. I guess that is what my big concern is, Bernard coming in with weight problems and not being able to do himself justice. I can deal with him losing if he gives it his best but it would break my heart for him not to be able to give it his all on his big night due to a mistake with weight. Here's hoping they have it well measured out because if they don't this kid is good enough to make Bernard pay in the worst way
