yeah was talking to him aswel for min or so after the lee fight . he was just standin there gettin somethin to eat not a bother to him . nice bloke he thought andy performed bad. were was the after party paddy ?
what a great night myself, my boy and healy had... brian peters is one incredibly sound man...i'll let healy say more about that...but he really does cover every angle in making the whole event as good as possible...a very sound man.. the katie taylor fight - the atmosphere was unbelieveable for it. in an early fight ray moylette was in one of the best little fights i have seen...a thrilling first round.. great to see andy murray, and we were ringside for the fight...he was getting caught a lot..doesnt bend his knees too much...but still flashes of brilliance at times... andy lee had a tough time, i havent wached it back on tv yet. jim rock had a rough old scrap too. and what a rollercoaster of emotions the dunne fight was...i nearly had 2 heart attacks..no word of a lie..i was nearly crying at the end...what a great night...it would have killed me to have missed that. Forgive me for having a smug look on my face today, ha ha. We shocked the world! We shocked the world! We shocked the world! Bernard's body movement was a joy to behold at times. He planted his feet at all the opportune moments and just let the leather go. Cordoba was a lovely boxer, but tell me Bernard is not the equal of all of them ability-wise in that division??? The super-bantamweight from Ireland with the heart of a heavyweight. I might be getting a little ahead of myself, because Bernard needs and deserves a long rest, but could we have a two-weight world champion if he moved to feather? Cristobal Cruz in the future anyone? That crowd was as rabid and patriotic as any I have ever seen. When Bernard needed it, everyone played their part. We're all world champions today.
Yeah I'd think he is well capable of moving up and taking on a Cruz (IBF) or Leuvano (WBO). As well measured as the work done with Bernard was I'd say his days at SBW are coming to a close. With his new training regime I think the move up in a fight or two would be the perfect move. I think the extra 4lbs would suit him perfectly. And he certainly has the tools to beat a Cruz or Leuvano. I would have said Larios but didn't he lose to that Japanese kid the other week?? He has the world at his feet now. With the new found strength he can go places and do things that were never really a runner before. All he needs to do is stick to his new regime. I think he'll look at having 5-6 more fights before packing it in. He always said he wants to get out around the age of 32 but maybe the jump up to world level will change his mind!
What a win lads, watched the fight at work,i must av looked some ejit 2 the public roaring at the tv!!!!congrats to bernard on a magnificent day for iriah sport.proved he had the heart of a lion with the skill level to match,IRELAND HAVE A NEW BOXING WORLD CHAMPION!!!!!!!!:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy
The photo's are great doug. I slid off as soon as the ring interview finished. I notice you got a photo with my fellow Ardoyne man and Sacred Heart clubmate Eamonn Magee. How did you find him, he's not the most approachable or maybe he's just that way with me:huh
magee i found great...was chatting away with him a lot..he did say to me that he hears about the hatton fight a bit too much for his own liking...but we were chatting about his first paul burke fight, which led to chatting about steve'the viking' foster...then he was telling me how hard he works as a trainer these days, which led to chatting about rogan...but he was just laughing about rogan aiming for valuev, rather thn saying what his next fight would be.... and..john breen..lovely man...invited me up to belfast to see the gym... no...magee was in great form.. although...he did try and start a fight with healy. tell them healy.. .
Their would only be one winner there, and it wouldn't be "the slabbery northerner" I never got your post yesterday, with yourself and Healy's mug shots. I only seen them this morning, but next time there's a big fight we can organise it a little better and have a meet up with some of the regular Irish posters.
A Croker mega bill would be a dream come true. Peters and Warren should get there heads togather and make it happen:deal
