    Unfortunately that seems to be the prevalent opinion among the US boxing scibes.But Duddy will still get his crack at the title, no-matter how much they complain. So good luck to John on June 7th

    I thought Duddy handled Eastman fairly easily and was impressed by his much improved defense.I was surprised the ref scored it close

    Ardy - whats the craic?

    Duddy is popular among US fans but people have been disappointed that he has not fought better opposition.I think he has been matched very carefully after he struggled against Campas.

    It certainly seems more difficult to get your greencard if your from western Europe, but as you rightly stated, less Irish people need to emigrate for economic reasons now due to the success of the "celtic Tiger". Emmigration has been the blight of the Irish people in some ways. This maybe the first generation of Irish people who do not have to emigrate,but it,s still very much part of our culture, I suppose old habits die hard.:hi:

    I agree mate, but the date has already been set for his title shot, so his handlers wont change anything now.

    I agree... theres seems to be a lot of duddy haters out there... among boxing fans and hacks....but hopefully he is ignoring the bad press... and just gets on with it

    I agree too!

    It's a shame really but I think it comes down to Duddy's popularity. People are jealous of that and look for ways to bring him down. He will get his shot though, he's too popular not too. I don't think he'll win but it would be good to see him given a chance to fight the best.

    I was really surprised at that too. Strange seeing the Ref as sole judge.

    Very true. A loss to the linear champ is no disgrace and will help duddy's profile.

    With Duddy's chin and workrate he can make it a tough night for Pavlik whether he wins or not. He also punches hard enough to keep Pavlik honest.

    Pavlik would be a very big favourite but it's not a mismatch. I hope it's made.

    That,s common pratice in Ireland and Britain in non-title fights.

    In Britain and Ireland, the ref is the sole judge if it's not a title fight. It's only 2 years ago that 3 judges were brought in for british title fights. I prefer the 3 judge system but you still get terrible decisions that way. Nothing's perfect!
