Here I know people don't like fighters being protected or any of that but I think Bernard should take an easy first defence to ease him onto the championship stage. Now I know nothing is ever easy at world class level but looking at the rankings Lontchi or one of the Japanese lads would look to be the way to go. I hope Bernard keeps up the same intensity with his training no matter who he faces. He can't afford to take his foot off the pedal now. I'd like to see him take a couple of voluntaries then take on Poonswat in his mandatory before moving up to FW. I just had a gander at Poonswats record there. Jaysus the lad likes to keep busy but for a world ranked fighter hes not half fond of fighting a lot of tin cans.
whos all going to the rogie fight at the odyssay...for any one who does not know, the odyssay has some great bars and eating houses...and a cinema...and a massive carpark....a top drawer location for a fight
The man is highly entertaining at a time when many heavyweight fights lately have been dreadful. Was anyone still awake at the end of Holyfield-Valuev? Rogan-Skelton was a sensational fight. Sort of a heavyweight Gatti-Ward if you will. If he beats Sprott then his people should push for a fight with one of the Klitschkos. Vitaly is starting to show his age and Wlad, although quite a specimen, has showed a less than stellar chin in the past. I like the Klitschkos and all but the thought of an Irish heavyweight champ is tantilizing to say the least. It has been a long time since a fellow named Jack Dempsey held that distinction right? Jack Sharkey was not Irish but of Lithuainan descent. Many fights changed their last name to Irish surnames cause Irish-americans dominated boxing at the turn of the century up till about the 1940's or so.
Gary Hyde's Cork show has been moved to April 25. The original date of April 11 didn't suit for logistical reasons. Ooh, and its shaping up nicely. The three Cubans, Limerick's Jamie Power and the Big Bang Willie Casey, and Cork's own Spike O'Sullivan. It'll be a good night out, lads. Anyone interested in joining myself and Paddy's table?
Here what the jaysus is Eddie Hyland doing fighting for that title? If anyone surely it should be Pajo? I know stranger things have happend and all, and I really hope he gives it a good shot but realisitically he's nowhere near ready for this kind of step up. He's only been 10 rounds once and that was in a close call (closer than the cards had it) against O'Hara. Why didn't he rematch O'Hara by the way? That was a cracking little scrap. Would have been good to see it again. Judging was a bit lopsided mind you. I'll never forget the irate lad trying to climb into the ring when the decision was read out. I had it level going into the last and though Hyland shaded that round to win by a point. Think people were pissed off because Irving/Tiedt scored it so that SweetPea only won 1 round.
entaining is right...he calls himself the entertainer...a fight against any of the champs would be a dream come true...was braddock not considered irish
ohara is from west belfast....i was not there that night...but the word in our part of the city was hyland got a gift decision that night
Great idea, you know Jetski in the lounge would paint that and have it delivered to you for about $400/$500. His paintings are excellent.:good
