Munroe isn't a big draw. Isn't ranked high enough and hasn't beaten anyone decent. His manager has done nothing but mouth off about Dunne. They passed up the chance to fight Cordoba. Sorry son you missed the boat

I love that. They are confident Munroe would knock Dunne out?

He survived a lot of punishment v Cordoba plus one very, very heavy knockdown.
So I have to assume that they are saying they think Munroe has punching power that is significantly better than Cordoba?

based on wba giving holyfield a nice high ranking out of the blue to allow him to face valuev in a similar 'interim' title bout...
and...wayne mc cullough sounding very desperate to get in the ring with dunne..
and...the potenial draw of 2 of the biggest names from irish boxing in recent years..
and...the fact that nobody would begrudge dunne a handy defense after that war...

what are the chances, however slim, that this just might..might...happen ??

 

The quote was attributed to the Binman's manager Mike Shinfield. I agree, let him **** off and get his own title, only I feel our guy would beat the Binman convincingly and that would be one of his handier defences, against a ranked fighter, and would make Bernard a few pound.

Looks like he wants Vazquez though. Who can blame him for reaching for the stars now?

 

He wants Vasquez? He has balls if he does. Wars with Marquez aside Vasquez still has plenty to offer. He is my SBW #1 still despite the long lay off. No guts, glory as they say. If he took on, and beat Vasquez, in Vegas it would be one of the greatest Irish wins (if not the greatest) of all time. Just a shame Vasquez doesn't have his title anymore

 

Brian Peters says Vazquez in Vegas is the ultimate goal. And if we won, it WOULD be the the best Irish win of all time. I'll be travelling in Oz if it goes through but I'll sell myself to get over there.

Also, Andy Lee came ringside around the traumatic fifth. You know, head-in-hands time. And he was there for the sixth.

He was roaring his head off: "Bernard, USE YOUR JAB! USE YOUR BOXING" etc. He was really into it and I think he may have been heard. It was really nice to see. I though the sixth, on Bernard's behalf, was one of the greatest displays I've ever witnessed. Dunne's an animal and I'll love him forever after that.

I had to resist the urge to sign up to the Boxrec forum to tell Frank Maloney to stick his comments where the sun don't shine.
Here are a few of his comments to Dunne fans :

"I believe Dunne has to chances in this fight slim and none and slim has just left the bar. Tell me it was a great move on saturday night after you see your man get his butt kicked. Rendall and myself will be at ringside to watch before i make up my mind on his next move with the rest of his team."

And when Dunne beat Cordoba winning the WBA title he says :


" Dunne needs Munroe more than Munroe needs Dunne"

"You might find out that he might be the same as nicky cook was, Lost in his first defence, So you Irish boys do not get to carried away i hate to see growing man cry.Plus Monroe would beat Dunne everyday of the week. All round he to big and strong for him."

It's actually getting funny now, someone started a thread about how Dunne fans are being too hard on Maloney!
