missed the lindsay fight but delighted with the result.

Lindsay will be one to look out for, fought very intelligently.

 

Jamie Power won a scrappy six round decision over decent Slovakian Vladimir Idranyi 59-57 seemed a fair assesment of a tight affair.
Luis Garcia won ko round one over the usually durable Nestor Casanova luis just jumped on him and punched him untill the ref had to stop it awesome to watch.
Gary Spike O sullivan won ko round one over polish fall guy Gheorge Dunate.Spike did look solid and threw good buches but any good body shot resulted in the Polish lad going down.Three body shots later the fight was over in 2 minutes.
Alexie Acosta won ko round one .This was warming up nicely against a south american that had good form untill Alex wipped in a huge left hook to the body and you could actually hear the air leave the guys body in a big whoosh.Fight over.Great shot.
Hyde always has Power to provide the uncertainty and excitment but where in the name of hell is he going to get guys to test these cubans for the money these bouts generate??

 

do u no wat puca southern irish promoters are not prepared 2 take the risks the brit promoters r in irish boxers...the fight 2nite in the ulster hall was special.... a tough call fight that could have went either way...i was standing on my seat in excitment.... lindsay was brilliant

 

I get your point Fra and am delighted Lyndsey won a good scrap but that was not an Irish card per say in that there were very little irish on the bill and the two guys got in for the cubans really did look the business on paper,these cubans are just sensational.

 

why was the bill any less an irish card in belfast than there was in cork...

cork = osullivan
power = 2 irirsh boxers

belfast = lindsay

today started really really badly after wakin up ta Duddy ****in his life up (**** us -we are wankers - but Duddy coulda cashed out againt Pavlik) and shouldnt have done

These Cubans are sickening, that's how sensational they are. It was Ninebar's first time seeing Garcia, and as soon as the 2-minute demollition was over, he turned to me with a wide-open gob and said: "Holy ****!". If this 21-year-old does not become a world champ within two years, then I will retire from reporting forever. It was awe-inspiring. These opponents from Argentina were no bums, as their record suggests.

Acosta also looks the business, but his footwork can be improved upon. His stance is a bit too wide, but I'm nitpicking. If these were fully-fledged Irishmen, we'd be creaming our britches. I would pay €1,000 to watch them, that's how special the two of them are, and that's without Mickey Joe Perez involved.

Spike, you beauty. His performance was a revelation. I knew he was a bit tasty, but tonight was the best I've seen. He was excellence personified with the body punching, but there was no rushing in when his opponent was in trouble. He bided his time, believe it our not because it was a first round KO, but his opponent was in bad shape at the finish. He was writhing in agony. Spike needs a step-up next, I'd like to see him with Gheorghe Danut, so let's see what happens next.

Jamie Power is a three-trick pony. All he can do is excite, thrill and electrify. He's never going to win a title, but he'll sell out any hall with his performances. A promoter's dream. 58-56, a little harsh on his opponent, it was that close.
