fight was awesome, atmosphere was awesome. on tv it seemed so loud at times bunce and kerr couldnt hear each other and the look on adam booth and david hayes faces suggest to me that they will be coming back to belfast for sure.

the fight was excellent, a real intensity of a championship fight back and fourth action two well schooled guys putting it all on the line, they should be applauded. martins power shocked me watching that, i knew he had one off KO power but all his punches looked stiff esp his jab and he was making appleby wince with the double hooks.you could tell in the 3/4th that appleby was shocked at how hard martin hit. a great win and onwards and upwards from here

ardy was there any trouble during or after? said on tv applebys supporters were not amused, but the noise of the place and the in your face bear pit nature of it came across very well on tv.


setanta with man utd scorin 5 and then that im sure they will be pleased and any irish/british/european promoter worth his salt will look at that and want to bring fights to belfast. perversly it could work the other way too, with the closest a british fighter would come to belfast to defend his title would be waving from liverpool

As for the fight's we got a mixed bag, Jamie Power is raw and reckless but entertaining none the less, he had some battle with the Slovakian Vladimir Idranyi who certainly never came to cork for just a paycheck.
Power was up against it with this guy at every turn after being cut in the first and was loading up on his shots throughout the fight. Workrate won the day for Jamie and i had him squeezing a tight closely fought affair.

Luis Garcia was a on a mission from the opening bell, Outstanding display from the Cuban, never gave his Argentine opponent a second to find any rhythm and completely destroyed him with extremely hurtful clubbing shots within 2 minutes.

Gary "Spike" O'Sullivan impressed me the most last night, Very smart fighter with skills in abundance, working behind a very tight and tidy defence and a nice jab, he picked his shots superbly and finished his helpless opponent with awesome bodyshots that made me wince! Spike show's a lot of Maturity and i think it's safe to say that with the right guidance he could go a long way in the sport.

And topping the Card Alexei Acosta came out showing patience working well off his jab, I thought this could be a tight tacticle affair that would go the distance but after the first real right hand of any note from Acosta the Argentine Caruso was on the deck and spitting out his mouthpiece.

A slightly dissapointing end to a good night but I'm not complaining, Cork has been lacking in pro boxing shows and now we have Gary Hyde putting on Show's with genuinely World class prospects so i left cork a happy man.

 

I did you a disservice, Ninebar, I said you were hugging with me and Paddy when Lindsay won - what I of course, should have said, was that poor oul Ninebar had to look on bemused as Paddy and I whooped and hollered like madmen. Great nights in both Belfast and Cork to make up for Duddy's shocker.

 

Fair play to the boy Lindsay, I am genuinely happy for him and that is one great win, but Being a big Appleby fan i was slightly gutted for my fellow Scotsman. For Martin Lindsay the future looks very bright and i hope he get's his shot against Cruz. Appleby is young, and hopefully he will come again. :good

 

Ardy your reservations about the ulster hall having lost its atmosphere have been put aside?

I think he has the talent to compete certainly on the European level in the future and who's knows maybe even better, this is early days for Spike and i don't want to get too carried away. I'd like to see how he progress's with stronger opposition, but he did impress me last night.:good
