I know what you are saying Ardy but I disagee - I set out my thoughts in detail on the Pavlik v Duddy thread. I am not going to stoop to someone elses level because they are disrespecting Duddy - I would prefer to lay the facts infront of them and show them up as talking **** instead of trading insults. Pavlik deserves the respect he gets - he's the champ, he's a good guy, he's got a good jab and a great overhand right = respect from me - that doesnt lessen my support for Duddy. Infact if you think I dont support Duddy heres a wee story for ya - I just got engaged at Christmas and I only gave the wee wan a token ring with the idea of bringing her over to NYC and Tiffanys for the real thing - maybe I had it planned that I could double it up for it to coincidently coincide with the Duddy v Pavlik fight!!! :smoke Will I see ya there?
Slapbangwallop, people from my neck of the woods bite back, when someone "yanks" their chain.:bbb Yes, Slapbangwallop, I hope to be there. In actual fact I have been trying to organise all day. The best price I have got flying out of Dublin and hotel is £565, not bad.:hi:
I don't understand why y'all are so upset about Duddy being criticized here. He's a very likable guy and has the heart of a warrior, but it's fair to say Pavlik is on another level right now. I enjoy watching Duddy fight but he gets hit often and I don't think that will fare well in the ring with someone like Kelly's power. Duddy does have a puncher's chance but he will need to seriously work on his defense (or get back to his basics - I heard he was a slick boxer in the ams). There is also going to be a reaction amongst boxing fans (and American ones especially) to his huge popularity stateside. He is an exciting fighter but let's not kid ourselves - he sells out MSG and makes bank because he's a charismatic, attractive Irishman. If he was an ugly Mexican he wouldn't get a 1/10 of this hype and his career wouldn't be where it is. That's a bit frustrating to see as an American fan. I like the guy and do think he's a skilled boxer, but the majority of his appeal comes from playing to his looks and something Irish people complain about constantly: America's infatuation with Ireland/general plastic paddyness.
I have no arguement with anything, you have said, and I fully expect you to support your man Pavlik. But it,s the guys who can on this site, spouting venom against Duddy I abhor. Constructive analytic criticism is one thing, hating is another.
You're right, he doesn't deserve that. There are just some folks here with no class. Look at the thread about Gatti & Pugilistic Dementia and that's clear as day. Anyways, I look forward to watching him fight tonight (if I can find a stream that is). He's always an exciting fighter and it'll be interesting to see how he's improved (and whether or not those cuts near his eyes will open up again).
Smichet is just shorter Ardy, he weighs in heavier. I see it is the main support fight now, I might actually get to see it at irish pub.It should be televised being the fight before Klits.
It won't be shown.HBO are showing a replay of Pavlik/Taylor and then the main event. Its stupid if you ask me - why not show Duddy and the Joe Green fight, two exciting young middleweights
I just read somewhere that SKY arer showing the Duddy fight so you should get to see it.Hopefully i'll get to watch it on the internet
If you look back on this thread you should notice I have not overrated Duddy, I suggested he have a stepup between Smichet and Pavlik. However I think Duddy gets way uderrated outsde of this thread and I think he has a real chance against Pavlik, and I'll be trumping for that when it happens.
