cheers ardy good to hear belfast is taking to big fights again any time I ask my brother i get a uh um yea think so, its strange a city the size of it has no one big single attraction for sports.the giants dont take the crowds they used to, football is mostly a sectarian based exercise for fans,i wont even mention antrim GAA and the ulster rugby team while taking about 12,000 a match have mostly the same 15/20,000 going over and over. Who even knows, people may get the appetite for it and start having even non irish orientated cards, look at the example of Montreal. anyway not possible to go so il let you enjoy mchughs alone. Im really worried sky wont do the card and the overall event justice tonight. not knowing what they potentiallly have on their hands
Just caught this website- it talks about ***an's return. Also, Hyland and Tims on the card too. I hope ***an can come back with a bang from the Khan debacle. He's an exciting fighter and has some balls but he's not very skilful By the way, of the Hyland bros- who's considered the best of them? Eddie, paul or Pat? Here's that link- scroll down and look for "***an Returns" http://www.thedailysports.com/
On my way in the next few minutes. Strange that one paper claiming 6000 and the other 10000. And McHugh bar, **** I will be lucky finding the Odyssey Arena. You Ardy and anyone going enjoy what should be a good night:hi:
Thanks man, Pajo is the pick of the brothers for me. A fight with Belfasts Martin Lindsay sometime in the future would be huge for Irish boxing.:deal
slightly off subject but im after reading two papers this morning and neither one had a line about tonights card yet they both managed an article about the england cricket team beating the west indies.some elements of the irish media need to get the finger out
Fenian is spot on. I remember writing a column four days after Kelly Pavlik knocked out Jermain Taylor to become the middleweight champion of the world. Not one national paper mentioned it on the Monday, but we did have comprehensive reports on men's hockey that weekend. Frightfully exciting, don't you know. I **** you not. I gave out **** in the column about it, got great feedback from readers, even casual fans, agreeing that Pavlik deserved better than being ignored because of a class-based sport like men's hockey. If Pavlik had a first name like Jeremy, or Alistair, and had a double-barrelled last name, he might make it in. Makes me despair. No wonder boxing journalists are a dying breed. What's the point unless you have the dedication and passion of someone like our Irish Paddy Cronan? You've more chance of making a living out selling used cans back to shops. Okay, rant over.
well what your talking about ...as in poor newspaper coverage is totally at odds with up here...as ardy and others have said b4...papers like the irish news and tele have boxing articles every other day...rogan.. mccloskey...duddy ..dunne are a regular feature..:good
Yep, fra, you guys are lucky sunzabitches up there - the Irish News is superb, for instance. BTW, Spike will be on Paddy Hyland's show in June, and hopefully a Paschal Collins show in Cork soon after.
im starting 2 realise that...mayb a united Ireland is not such a good idea:admin....christ did i just say that:scaredas:... the boys will come looking for me after that remark when is the show in cork set for...will the cubans b on it..
i hope 2c spike someday...he seems like a real talent...i have never heard a bad comment about him im going up to watch rogie 2night...im leaving in about 1hr...its a 40min drive...so that should be plenty of time...i missed dunne at the o2....but there was no way i was missing another big irish fight night
