Lee has actually fought in Ireland 5 times, but my point was if he is to take on a meaningful opponent would it not be better if he done so with a home crowd cheering on his every punch, rather than the other way round.:thumbsup

 

is macklin not promoted by brian peters, i thought i saw him on peters website saying he promotes him, might be wrong

 

who in america will take him?? He screwed up his big chance with Top Rank when he lost to Brian Vera

 

I don't know the full details of his work with Steward, there is the argument that Steward has too many other boxers and media work etc to give enough time to Lee. If Lee isn't getting the time with Steward, then it doesn't seem worthwhile to stick with him. He isn't getting good fights with Stewart at the moment.

The problem might simply be with Andy Lee himself, he is capable and talented and can fight at a high level, he put in a superb performance against Willie Gibbs, so we know he has the tools.

He wasn't even doing the basics right against his last opponent and I don't think you can blame that on the trainer. That is two poor performances in a row now for Lee, very similar to Duddy's recent form, and then Duddy lost to a journeyman. If Lee continues with these performances, he will lose to a journeyman, just like Duddy did.

I think the problem might be down to motivation and hunger, and if that is the case then perhaps he should come back to Ireland and get a new trainer and promoter. At least he will be fighting in front of good home support. If he needs a reminder of what type of hunger is required he need look no further than the abundance of heart shown by O'Hara the other night.

 

Lads, you are all talking like Willie Gibbs was a world class middleweight while in fact he is no more than a decent journeyman and the type that Lee should dispose of easily.I'm extremely dissappointed in Lee's lack of progress.I think he bought into all the hype Steward was spewing about Lee becoming a great middleweight and now his confidence is shattered after losing to punching bag Brian Vera and struggling with other mediocre opposition.He needs a change of scenery badly but either way i don't see him doing anything in a ****-poor division.

 

Gibbs is probably the best name (nobody said world class) on Lee's record yet and he fought very well that night. If you consider this was his first fight back since his loss to Vera, Gibbs is another dangerous slugger with a decent record, so, he showed balls and a bit of class to come back so well.

Did you see Vera against Kirkland, Vera showed that he is one tough fighter, he has unbelievable punch resistance and is a very dangerous slugger. Lee, like he did last night, probably took Vera too lightly and paid the price.

Lee is only 25, he has been hyped too much and still has a lot to learn and prove.

 

it was in the sunday world today that duddy and sinclair could be set for derry in august

 

i would hate to see all that talent and potential lee has shown in the past go to waste...

I know it won't happen but Lee's people would be best advised to keep him the hell away from Macklin. The knife would probably cut through him within 6 rounds.

 

I didn't see Lee last night. However I did see him against Sipos and he was awful that night. He gets hit with way too much, cuts too easily and can't fight on the inside. Remember he has floored his opponent in all of his last 5 fights, so he must be doing something right. I respect Manny Stewart, but I don't know if he's the right trainer for Lee.

Sinclair surprised me when he beat Coyle, I will give you that. I was at the Odyssey and Sinclair looked most impressive that night. But Sinclair is a career ww and his name means **** all to the Americans so why fight him.Its not a question of or if Duddy can win but why he even whats to go there.:deal
