The sooner the better they get a fight made for Dunne. Is Rogan fighting up in Belfast again against Sexton. Roggie let him off big time I cant see him doing the same.
just got this in Andy Murray ready to serve up another win Andy Murray will be looking to record another win in London on July 18th when he takes to the ring at the York Hall in Bethnal Green. However tennis fans need not fear, because this Andy Murray is intent on making his name inside the ring and not on the tennis court. Unbeaten in 15 professional bouts Cavans Andy Murray is one of Irish boxings brightest hopes and currently holds the European Union Lightweight title. The 26-year-old will go in search of win number 16 at the York Hall with the British Light Heavyweight title clash between Danny McIntosh and Nathan Cleverly topping the bill. The Hennessy Sports event is live on ITV4 with Murray set to meet Sheffields Adam The Outlaw Kelly in an undercard bout. Although hes now training out of John Breens successful Belfast gym Murray is no stranger to London. I was based in England for the first couple of years of my pro career and six of my first eight pro fights were in London, explained Murray. Im looking forward to fighting there again and especially at the York Hall because its a great venue and has a great tradition. Murrays last appearance came at The O2 in Dublin in March on the undercard of Bernard Dunnes WBA World Super Bantamweight title win. Dunne wasnt the only Irishman to collect a belt on the night with Murray adding the European Union title to Irish titles won at lightweight and light welterweight. The atmosphere that night was something else and Bernard winning the world title has been a real lift for Irish boxing, said Murray. Hes proved to the other Irish pros that if you put in the work and persevere the results will come your way. Hopefully there will be plenty more nights like that over the next few years and I hope to be part of them. Murrays points win over Spanish champion Daniel Rasilla in Dublin was his first time to complete the 12 round championship distance and he feels that the experience will stand to him. I was trying to pace myself and I actually felt I still had plenty left in the tank at the finish. It was a good learning experience and its a good psychological barrier to cross for any pro. Im still improving and Im in the perfect gym to do it in. Hopefully I can use the European Union title as a stepping stone to the full European title but thats all a bit further down the road. The only thing Im concentrating on now is this fight at the York Hall and getting a good win there. A clash of unbeaten fighters tops the bill at the York Hall on July 18th with Danny McIntosh and Nathan Cleverly squaring off for the British Light Heavyweight title. The undercard features former British and European Champion Jon Thaxton and unbeaten Heavyweight sensation Tyson Furys seventh professional outing. Hot prospects Steve OMeara, Lee Purdy, Dwayne Lewis, Bobby Ward and Del Rogers are also in action on a packed night of championship boxing that also features recent Big Brother evictee Angel McKenzie in her 18th pro fight.
Lynes comes up short in title bid This content is protected Lynes (right) falls to 31 wins and six defeats Last-minute replacement Colin Lynes came up just short in his bid to reclaim the European light-welterweight title in Paris on Saturday. Essex boxer Lynes, 31, stepped in after Northern Ireland's Paul McCloskey suffered an injury, but dropped a split decision against Souleymane M'Baye. Lynes has now lost his last three fights and may now decide to retire. Former WBA champion M'Baye will now have to defend his title against McCloskey, who is 19 fights unbeaten. Looks like Mbaye was lucky to get the decision. McCloskey will give Mbaye a boxing lesson once they meet, and Im hoping its sooner rather than later.:deal
A + B doesn't always = C in this game but I doubt McCloskey has too much to fear against M'Baye barring some ropey EBU judging if it goes the distance
apparently purse bids for macklin-barker are this week for the british title.if mack wins that he surely gets a euro shot next
Any news on the rest of the card in dublin? Whatever about Long, fitz or Timlin i hope Spike gets a test this time,Collins has built him up a lot but his opponents are sub par or have been knocked out in previous bouts,I want to believe in spike but i will reserve judgement untill i see him in a tough fight,He is a nice guy and does have a good bang on him so thats a good start. If Paulie gets Hughes over thats 4 good fights and spike in a tester would make it a great night. Predictions so far Eddie to beat ***an by points after a war Pajo to beat a game Herrera by mid round ko Paulie to beat Hughes well on points after a good workout (if its on) Power to beat Waldron late stopage after an exciting contest. And a great night will be had by all,is there a bar in the arena?just to put the cheery on top.:happy
Anybody see the Scottish lad Mc'Ewan on the Ortiz undercard? He's a middleweight that beat Vera. I'd like to see him fight Andy Lee in a loser leaves the U.S Fight. He looked very poor at the weekend and would be a great fight for Andy if he could get it. His style would suit Andy and beating an unbeaten "prospect" would be the type of confidence booster he seems to need right now.
Team Hughes wont take the fight im afraid to say, but paulie is fighting a different guy its all updated on boxrec and all other opponents should be finalized by thursday or friday. Fill you all in as soon as i hear of more opponents.......
i was thinking the same thing.mcewan is better than he showed against boone but i think andy could beat him.its better than rematching vera since mcewan beat him and it would probably get andy back on espn
