as much as its great to get dunne on rte....it would be great if rte started more smaller shows again...they were getting huge viewing figures...so i dont understand why they have scaled down there coverage of the sport
................................................. Jonny Stapleton James Moore believes he is close to making a long overdue return to Ireland and securing a shot at Irish light middleweight champion Neil Sinclair. However, the American based 2001 World Amateur Championship Bronze medalist, claims there will be nothing long about the mouthwatering clash if it does come off. Moore (17-2) confirmed his Irish manager, Tommy Egan is close to making the fight-which would be the chief support bout to Martin Rogan and Sam Sexton’s rematch on October 9- and predicts if the clash does materialise one of the former amateur stars will be consult the canvas. The Arklow native, whose only appearance as pro in Ireland came back in 2006, envisages a “shoot out between two bangers” that would really excite Irish fans. Moore is also excited about the prospect of returning home to Ireland and revisiting the Odyssey Arena. The Belfast venue is where he achieved his greatest amateur success and Moore is hoping it will also play host to his greatest pro boxing triumph. “My Irish manager Tommy Egan contacted me about the fight and I was instantly interested. Sinky and myself would make a quality Irish title fight. We are both big punchers and it would most certainly be a shoot out between two bangers. I am certain it wouldn’t go the distance and one of us would be stopped. I have the up-most respect for Sinky and I would have to be at my best to beat him. Personally I would love the fight to be made. I would love to fight in Ireland again and it could possibly be the start of a European journey for me. My last fight in the Odyssey was back in 2001 when I won bronze in the world amateur championships. I would love to return to the venue and win again. I think it’s a fight the fans want too. Two former amateur Irish stars doing battle for a title in front of a sell out crowd. It would be a great support bout for an exciting Rogan and Sexton showdown.” Moore explained early this week.
I think outside broadcasting costs a fortune hence why they prefare not to show small shows...maybe more promoters will have to film there own shows, if RTE were getting big viewership may be they would show them then?
City Channel (ntl ch. 107) in dublin just showed the Hyland vs ***an fight God it looked great on T.V, with martin Rogan doing Commentary too God i cant wait to see it again..... Saturday - Setanta ireland 8pm, Setanta 1 9pm, City Channel 10pm all for 1 hour Sunday - Setanta ireland 8pm, Setanta 1 9pm for 2 hours
its ridiculous how late setanta are leaving it to show the hyland fights. but at least we will get to see them. i still cant believe there arent any clips of it on youtube thoatsch
If this fight takes place, it could be another quick blast out for Sinky. Moore's form has been pretty poor of late, but it's an excellent pairing. McCloskey boxing for the European title on the Dunne undercard would be superb. I think it is very close to signing. was jsut on the boxing news website and read this quote from Ryan Walsh "I sparred Bernard Dunne in Belfast the week before he won the world title. We did a good 30-40 rounds and they only let me fight orthodox. But I know I won the majority of those rounds." http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/BN08/detail.asp?id=1212 Unfortunately thats all true from what i've heard...
Rte obviously liked working with peters so maybe if he actually went and promoted shows here we would get some more boxing
has anyone heard anything about the cubans? they have been awfully quiet since the incident about the fight in spain:?
Ya, really want to see Perez fighting again. He hasnt fought in months, he really should be kept active at this stage in his career. What happened in Spain?
