The belfast Bill, according to boxrec http://www.boxrec.com/date_search.php?yyyy=2009&mm=10&dd=09 Saunders is there, I wonder if degale and gavin will be added too?
Nice piece about Lee Vs Duddy on the eastside main page....... I hope this fight comes off, would be amazing for Irish boxing. Lee win by UD. Also, sounds like Lee was impressive last night, I hope he can progress...
I am glad that Saunders is on the bill as i thought he was brilliant on the last Khan bill. But, I thought Alex Arthur was supposed to be on the bill????
Conlan is a pretty well known amateur although I've never seen him - others have. Seen Joe Rea on the Prizefighter but thats about it.
I have to say despite the positive reaction on here, I'm slightly worried by Andy going 8 rounds with Shuler. Well a little more than slightly. Now I haven't seen the fight, so I can't say whether it was a good performance or not, and I suppose there is something positive in the fact he dropped him 5 times, even if it did take 8 rounds to finally get rid of him. However when you look at Shuler's record every other name he's fought in recent years has stopped him and done it quicker. The only positive on Shuler's record is a relatively close loss to decent Light-Middleweight Alex Bunema. Since he fought Bunema: Yori Boy Campas stopped him in 1 Michael Walker(when he was a 7-0-1 prospect) stopped him in 4 Julio Cesar Chavez jnr stopped him in 2 Andy Kolle stopped him in 3 Now Andy Mightn't be a huge puncher but I think we'd have liked to think of him as a bigger puncher than any of those guys and also a much better fighter than any of those guys. Yet it's taken him a lot, lot longer to stop this guy. Even if you thought of possibilities like Shuler being in much better shape v Lee, much more motivated, Andy working on specific things, trying to be patient, keeping the fight on the outside and not trying to force anything. You would of expected him to get the job done quicker. Anyway he got the win which is the main thing, and hopefully when I footage of the fight itself it will turn out that Andy did actually look good but this is a real downer to me. My money would be on Duddy if they are to meet, that's provided John doesn't try and box him.
No, he didn't in a few of his early ones but he has in his last 14 or so which you have to say is quite impressive.
duddy and lee aint happening http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/other-sports/duddy-on-way-back-to-big-time-14462053.html
