:good Yes sir. I wouldn't have really cared but Pavlik is and has been my favorite fighter for several years now. To me Duddy is a very live underdog and from what I've seen I would not count out his chances. As one of Pavlik's biggest fans, Andy Lee worries the hell out of me. He is a tremendous talent that no one can deny. As I said earlier thanks to RTE and some really good posters such as BigEars I have become a fan of Irish boxing and will continue to be. The Irish know how to put on a show and I'm very impressed by the crowd turn outs and support they give to their fighters. Go Irish Boxing!!!:good
Ardy - all the Irish fans support Duddy (except slutter) but they are just being realistic when they say they think Pavlik will beat Duddy. He just KTFO Taylor and Taylor is a way more polished boxer than Duddy.Duddy has tons of heart,a good chin and a good left hook which gives him a slight chance against Pavlik but no more than that. I'm just glad the lad will get a chance to fight for a world title and make some good money,i just can't see him beating Pavlik. I really hope i'm wrong
yep ardy,us derry heads certainly have plenty of support for our sports personalities, but we are a very fickle bunch at the same time, got into a row over christmas dinner concerning duddy and his ability, apparantly if he isnt good enough to beat pavlik,he isnt good enough to be supported,i just went nuts, then he tried to slag duddys level of competition and then tell act like mccloskey has been fighting world beaters, some people do nothing but confuse.i love duddy, and will most certainly do all in my power to find a way to a way to the US,im only 20,hope that wouldnt be a hindrance on potential boozing. i really think that pavlik is overhyped, because he is the great white hope for american boxing,he isnt the most skilled fighter in the world and although holds a devestating punch,he is far from invincible,if the level of competition was higher at MW im sure this would have been proven already, but you can only beat whats put in front of you. i know a good few heads from cushendall from uni in scotland, they love their hurling and formal shoes and white socks, the bruce lee look never fails to shock!ardy if you are gona call anyone redneck it's them.
The redneck comment was well out order. But would it help if I told you I had about 10 pints of beer along with several southern comforts today.
Thanks man , same to you . Ardy I love John but I'm a realist , I'll support him all the way but he is limited and you shouldn't let bias cloud your judgement . If someone said Ireland are gonna top their qualiying group for the 2010 World Cup they'd probably be called delusional.......yet that's more likely to happen than John beat Pavlik . McCloskey v Lyons would be a very interesting fight , so hard to tell whether McCloskey's awkwardness would be the undoing of Lyons or whether Lyons simple style would be perfect to deal with Paul . Lyons will have it tough against Branco next though and if Lynes wins I think he mgiht set his target on a World title , afterall Branco has only lost at World level himself .
Yes sir. I will be cracking into the good stuff pretty soon here myself. I vowed never to drink southern comfort again though because I had the only auto accident in my life after a few of those and luckily got by the police sobriety check. All I did was hurt my car and some fencing on the side of the road, but I was lucky on several levels that no one got hurt (esp. innocent bystanders) so I never drink that anymore . Jim Beam for me!! If you haven't had it, it's an inexpensive but very fine Bourbon. Go Irish Boxing!!!
**** off with your redneck comments - there goes your chance of drinking in the states, you have to be 21 and unless you are with someone who has connections its 7 -up for you boyo:hey
haha, well your own inbreeding and intake of poitin im sure denies the need for you to ever pass the doors of a public house.:rofl :rofl nah im sure id be grand, and i must say you antrim glen folk are some of the finest irishmen ive came across. jim beam i always thought was a fine bourbon on par with that fine bourbon named jack daniel.jacks just more popular here so i always buy that. just realising, trust us a thread to do with boxing and we end up talking about alcohol, only the irish,or maybe the scottish.
***AN WANTS TO FIGHT HATTON IN DUBLIN!!!! http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-sport/***an-wants-shot-at-hatton-1254268.html
Sorry but that s an idiotic comment. So just because the guy is Irish, as fellow Irishmen we have to throw out all reason and logic, ignore all the facts and proclaim that he is unbeatable and invincible? As said before, If Duddy fights Pavlik Il try and get over there to cheer John on, inspite of the fact that I dont think he has a great chance of winning. When Jack s army followed the boys in green to the states and the far east did they all really think we were going to win the world cup??
Well everyone is entitled to there point of view, as it is a forum. Do you not think that some of the Americans are whole-heartily behind Pavlik because he's their compatriot.:bbb Anyhow when I made them comments, I was juiced up [a stomach full of beer and southern comfort].And I'm the first to admit my language could have been moderated some what.Growing up in Ardoyne Belfast makes one fiercely proud of their national identity and fiercely proud of their sporting heros. By the way Duddy will still Ko Pavlik. UP THE IRISH:good
One thing's for sure, I'll be torn while watching Duddy take on Pavlik, as Duddy is currently my favorite fighter, but I know I "should" be for Pavlik because I'm American. Ah, I will be conflicted all right.
ahhh dont worry johnny just follow your heart, whoever you cheer for when a big shot is landed or if you get the goosebumps when you hear the bagpipes aplaying when johns walking out.and anyway, americas so big i probably have as in common with someone from munich as you would if you lived in new york and the other in texas, you lot have one bloody unfair advantage.i mean you play the world series with only american teams, that way you know you cant lose. just reading the derry journal today and seen john duddy and paul mcloskey and the county derry boxing annual prizegiving, nice to see two local lads going back out to the community and sharing their knowledge with the up and comers, amateurs could learn a hell of a lot from john, inpsirational story,if he wins the world title i want a ****ing film about it.
