Yeah it was a miserable result,so much for Steward's predictions.

did you watch it ardy, lee had shades of duddy in him and showed a propensity for cutting!not much to cheer about though and it definatly doesnt bode well for the future, especially as vera was a sloppier pavlik style fighter.he closed the gap very quickly and was definatly able to unsettle lee.

Hello lads, i still can't believe what happened to andy. But i suppose a hard loss can be better than an easy win. Lot's of atg fighters have lost early in there carears:jmm, pac, b-hop, p4p great henry armstrong. Now Let's all get behind andy again. And if i may quote billy conn "if you haven't lost before....." sorry but i can't remember the rest but it applies to andy. Go irish boxing!!!

If he learns from the defeat, then he can take a positive from it. I noticed when he was fighting journeyman Ciaran Healy last year in Dublin, how easily Healy caught Lee with the right hand.Because of Healy's limited ability, and Lee's overall dominance in the fight, nothing much was said about it.Anyway when all is said and done, it's a terrible result for Irish boxing, as he was our shining star.Let's hope he can come back and fight in Ireland again, soon.

So much for being the sparring champion of the Kronk Gym. It's when the chips are down that you need to produce. Steward needs to take a long look at that fight. Why wasn't Lee throwing combinations - he landed left after left but seldom followed thru with the right hook - how many if any body shots did he land in the whole fight. Other areas to be looked at are Andy's ability to produce anything when close in and head movement. On paper and in practise this guy should have been made for Lee as he likes to come forward and hasn't brilliant defense.
Like Sandwedge says above we have to stick with the guy now that he has hit a rocky patch - he was the main reason for my interest in the sport being re-kindled. I just hope that both Steward and Lee have learned from the experience and come away from it the better for it.
Less hype Manny and more substance.

i think inside fighters will always trouble lee. Eastman is a great inside fighter i could see him causeing lee all sorts of problems. He has great uppercuts and is dirty as well.

first off i didnt see the fight...couldnt download the stuff that mick told me about[yeah im hopeless]...so im only going by what i read on a few sites... here in Ireland there saying it was a bad stoppage....in that the ref acted too early...but that lees defence was ****[my words]....and he clearly was not ready for that fight...so where does andy go from here...does anyone think he can still be world champion.

yep,he still can be world champ, just not in the next year though,i feel he has to take a rematch with vera,it will have alot of interest now and from a promoters view could sell very well.it must be a few months away though because andy has alot of tightening up to do ... he must build his stamina,by the sixth his mouth was hanging open in tiredness,he has to sort out the low left hand,it just doesnt make sense for him,he isnt quick enough.steward needs to get him fighting on the front foot against pressure fighters,he can push any fighter back with his size and jab and he definatly needs to work on his fighting on the inside,he wont always get the space to put out his combinations as was shown last night when he got tied up on the inside it was maybe an upper and hold, how about throwing a few lead and right hooks andy.
one thing that always impressed me was his ability to grind the body ... where was it last night,he didnt seem to care and was happy to punch a high guard.

it will take time and i think we all have to be patient,he isnt perfect but i still feel he can be.

I DONT KNOW. BUT I HOPE HE GETS BACK ON HIS HORSE.
I THINK IF HE GOES TO THE TAPE OF LASTNIGHTS FIGHT HE WOULD SEE THAT THE FIGHT WAS WINNABLE, JUST HAS TO CLEAN UP A COUPLE OF DEFENSIVE ISSUES.
