lads you should come to bundoran on a night out so i can tell you to your face how british those fighters are + have you seen those fighters passports?
Therein lies the problem, you are a wee bit confused yourself.Being from Donegal you are from Ulster but not the north, and by having a northern accent often get mistaken for a northerner. So to make yourself feel more Irish you call Irishmen from the north brits. What a wanker, **** off you confused free state ****er
chasin bull ??....what night? actually forget the passports - we'll just get pissed and laugh about lennox lewis's passport
lee is very average.when is he actually gonna fight somebody half decent? lee got exposed in the vera fight. pavlik would destroy lee in 3 rounds.what a joke[/quote] your an idiot!
1. there was going to be a 2 page spread in the evening echo 2. Gary Hyde was going to put on a free bad for anyone who showed up
I havent seen rogans but i was talking to him after the sexton fight and he was moaning that he had to drive down to dublin to get his passport sorted Can you get a brit passport sorted in dublin i believe the british embassy is located down here......
Look, if you want to play silly ****ers then all fine and well. If you actually think national pride and sense of identity is based solely on where you happend to be born then you are clearly a ****ing moron. Nobody chooses where they are born. The sense of identity, culture and heritage can often be attached to the place you are born but it can also be something you develop as you grow as a person and work out what you believe in etc.. And as for this shite about passports don't even start with that. A mate of mine, who was born and raised in Corduff, has both Irish and British passports. He's 100% Irish through and through but he had the option of getting a british passport so he took it. Why? Because it eases freedom of movement and employment chances in various territories. And thats just for a normal joe soap. The appeal of being eligible for a british title fight as well as an irish title for a boxer should be ****ing glaringly obvious. Get as many things in your favour as possible. It doesn't make anyone less Irish (or British, or Peruvian or Martian) of they choose to take advantage of being able to fight for another prestigious title by dual/split nationality. You sound like a wind up merchant to be honest. And I hope you are. Otherwise you're just a deluded little ****. And one final thing. As much pride as we take in Irish fighters, do you think we only follow them because they are a certain degree of Irish? Do you think we have a scale we measure it out on and if they don't score high enough we don't care. Do you think its the be all and end all for us. Do you think the 'level' of their 'Irishness' makes that much difference. Sure we back our own but do you think if they aren't the 'right type' of our own we won't back them? If that was the case then I wouldn't want to see Patrick Hyland do well because hes a southsider and rovers fan and I'd want Spike to get his brains beat out because he's a langer :think What matters is that we support our own boxers and enjoy their success and wish them well. We don't always like all Irish boxers. You might have a boxer you don't like for a certain reason. But it won't be his race, creed or colour that makes the difference. It might be his fighting style, attitude or something else. To make it real easy for your tiny brain take one of our best prospects for the future. Carl Frampton is a top prospect. He's from Belfast. He's got the skills to pay the bills and some serious pop in his punches :bbb He's boxed for Irish titles as an amateur, he may go on to box for both Irish and British titles as a pro. I'm excited to see what he does. I don't know anything about his social/religious/personal background and I don't care/ Do you think I give a shite what passport he has, whether he prefers Guinness or Bass, Cricket or Hurling, Charile Nash or Jim Watt? Not at all. I want to see the lad banjo people left right and centre and fulfil his potential because hes a top boxer. It was being an Irish boxing fan that got me watching him> I hope he boxes in Ireland a lot and I hope he wins every belt he fights for whether its Irish, British, Commonwealth, EBU, EU, IBO, WBC or whatever So spare us your stupid posts and **** off from whence you came.
Well said Bam Bam, there is a time and place for politics and this isn't it. I only want to add that boxing is one of the only sports that unites the entire community in the north of Ireland and also the island of Ireland as a whole, and I would like this thread to be a reflection of this unity.Anyhow, next lad mentions politics on this thread is going home in an ambulance:bbb NEWS McGUIGAN TIPPING FRAMPTON FOR TITLES http://www.irishnews.com/articles/597/556/2009/10/27/631084_398267014057McGuigant.html RINTY MAY MAKE HALL OF FAME http://www.irishnews.com/articles/597/556/2009/10/27/631083_398265751890Rintymay.html PRO STARS AND BIG CITY CLASH OPEN CLUB http://www.irishnews.com/articles/597/556/2009/10/27/631076_398256916777Prostars.html BELFAST BOXERS LOOKING TO STRIKE GOLD IN FINALS http://www.irishnews.com/articles/597/556/2009/10/27/631073_398253130330Belfastbo.html WEIGHT-IN FOR ULSTERS http://www.irishnews.com/articles/597/556/2009/10/27/631081_398263227562Weighins.html
I never brought religion into sport EVER so you can stop that shite right there! and i will take back my statement about the northern irelands boxers because by right they have dual nationalitys. but macklin did say it was great to win his EBU title on home soil ie manchester england.(you do know its good buisness to be irish in this sport)
Macklin does ham up the Irishness when he gets over here as far as i can see to be honest. It doesn't matter, and doesn't bother me, but his Irishness often appears to be for promotional reasons. Never hear a word of it when he's talking on british television. Not that he should mention either. Rogan on the other hand will go on Sky and say something like "our backs been to the wall for 800 years".
i think 'big balls' may be a little understood... like ardy says, lets say no more about it. so..what side of bundoran are you on big balls ?
