As for Fury-suppose you could call him Irish if he wins the Irish title. In fact you'd have to really. If he ends up gettin close to a totle shot we'l all be claiming him.Dunno if his punching powers for real-he couldnt put a dent in Mc Dermott and really lost the fight.Sayin that it was a tough opponent for a novice pro and he showed he can go 10 hard rounds-In heavyweight division that counts for something.

Has Dunne got any sort of ranking in the major organisations after his last fight? It seems weird he is not ranked in any of them in the top 15 fighters.

Interesting quotes from Irish-Canadian Matt O'Brien ahead of his fight on the Andy Lee undercard on Saturday night. Somehow I don't think they will do down too well with Irish fans who like Jim Rock.

    Excerpts from a Pres Release:
O’Brien hopes that the fight will set him on a collision course with Ireland’s leading middleweights and he’s already targeting a clash with Jim “The Pink Panther” Rock.

"To be honest he’s the guy I really have my sights set on right now. There’s something about him just makes me want to bash him up. Maybe it’s his pink shorts but for my money he just seems to cherry pick easy fights for himself and then go around calling himself an ‘Irish Champion’.
“If Rock has the courage to step in to the ring with me I will knock him out and retire him for good so that he can concentrate on selling cars full time!”

O'Brien better look fantastic on Saturday night, 'cos that kind of nonsense doesn't go down too well with Irish fans. Good way to get himself talked about though, to be fair.

I personally think Jim Rock has been an excellent servant of Irish boxing, and I have a feeling a lot of our lads here on ESB think the same. He doesn't need to prove himself by fighting Johnny Come Latelys.

Own goal by O'Brien or excellent self-publicist? A good case for both, methinks.

I've got to say for all the entrances I always find his the most entertaining. The music and the shorts gotta give you a laugh.

Someone has fed Matt OBrien that line, as im sure OBrien wouldnt know much about Rock if anything at all, let alone that he sells cars. I have a feeling Peters or Rohan are behind Obriens outburst.:deal

    Marty,

Being in the press game, I thought the exact same thing, but it would still be something he'd have to give the okay to. Not nice to provoke Jim Rock like that, unless he and Jim are gearing up for something we don't know yet?

Champions have a tendency not to be ranked by other organisations (funny that) so whatever rankings he did have pre Cordoba were lost. And losing to Poonsawat isn't going to improve his rating any.

    His rankings are

    WBA #6
    IBF unranked
    WBC unranked
    WBO unrankend
    EBU #2 (behind Jason Booth)

Anyway, the bad (IMO) news that I have slowly filtering back is that Bernard is going to box on at FW

I hate to say it but mark my words a move up to FW ends with a brutal, savage and career ending KO and quite possibly by a very, very, very average operator
