I was making a joke based on the names. I was replying to a Mike. I know the history of the area well. I graduated high school with Kelly's father. My best friend growing up was a Finnerty. He had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Is that enough to qualify his parents a 'good' Irish Catholics or were they a few short? Probably all they could afford on a fireman's salary. :D

The steel mills made Youngstown one of those 'melting pot' areas in more ways than one.

well to be fair...although his parents are Irish...he has lived in birmingham his whole life...he has recieved a lot coverage down the years on sky tv...so he is a familar face to the british boxing fan....saying all that he entered the ring last night with an Irish tri-colour and they played the soldier's song for him...macklin must consider himself irish

Cheers fra. Before I went to school I told everyone I am irish. Reading irish history and drinking Guinness made it absolute. :smoke

I have 6 sons. Paddy, Mike, Seamus, Regan and Kieran. The other one got named after Floyd Patterson.

Sorry, no offense intended sir. I wondered if Pavlik could be part Irish too with his first name being Kelly? Do you think the Pavliks will stay in Youngstown now that KP is a very wealthy man at this point? Boom Boom Mancini - I believe lives in southern California and is currently involved in the movie industry.
