That is great news about Sinky. I think he is going to KO a few opponents - Prizefighter is made for him.
i wouldnt read to much into murrays last fight. both murray @ ***an have great engines but both shift a lot of shots i think as the fight comes into the later stages the more clinical puncher (murray) imo will prevail, also unlike the hyland vs ***an fight i think the lack of head movement from these 2 we could see some serious head clashes hylands upperbody movement footwork and hand speed was the key to keeping out of trouble just imo
***an assures me he wants it so no problem that end. Of course politics is a strange thing in boxing and I'm sure if the dosh was right Eddie would take the rematch. He would see nothing to fear after winning the first clash and if you dig as deep as he did to win, you want to get well paid. With regards to the O'Hara-Hyland match: The frustrating thing with this was, I remember Harry McGavock announcing straight after the first fight there would be a rematch as it was agreed by all parties but it never materialised. If I remember correctly it was mooted for the Tommy Egan show which took place shortly after with the Moore-Healy headliner.
Yep spot on Steve. It was announced prior to Patrick Hyland - Griffin. 'Ladies and Gentlemen you will be pleased to hear that there will be a rematch in the National Basketball Arena on July 17 etc.. etc.' Maybe they just did it to placate the mad Sweet Pea who invaded the ring after the fight to vent his spleen! In fairness to Sweet Pea he was hard done by. I had him losing (by a point) the fight but I think the referees scorecard had him only winning 2 rounds or something. Would be good to see the boys get it on again. Great domestic dust up
The score was out of line but I thought Hyland had done enough. He started strong and finished well but O'Hara boxed well through the middle rounds.
Just saw in the Irish News that Paul Hyland has got a shot at the EU sbw title next month. He takes on "David Chianella" in Italy and although he has to travel, this guys record isnt great and hes 36. A great chance for Hyland i would have thought? Any opinions on this?
------------------------------ yes but he can't leave it to the Judges in Italy without at least 2 knock downs in separate rounds. needs to ko the guy imo
your right harry announced the rematch with team hyland having no idea, it was a ply by tommy egan to sell his show and it caused problems between egan and team hyland. was with paddy snr the weekend were heading up to awards night sat he,s telling me both ***an and o,hara want a rematch, eddie has no problem but both of them were paid well to fight eddie now they dont seem to be as generous towards eddie, and remember when eddie fought sweepea it was eddies 10th fight and sweepea,s 17th same with ***an major difference in fight experience eddie,s a different fighter now and if the price is right paddy snr said eddie will fight either or both of them
Couldnt of put it better myself....Not even just to get a couple of knockdowns, Pauly has to stop him.......
