    Ok if I'm to take into account all the people who emigrated I will have to add all the Irish American world champs and the British world champs with Irish ancestry, so that means Lynch (who's parents were Irish) is on our list among others.

    Also you will note that every champion on that list is of Irish descent, we have not benefited from immigration like Britain has. If we were to only count the boxers of English, Scottish and Welsh descent for you guys your numbers would take a pretty big hit.

    If I take Dunne off the list (which I wouldn't because he beat a world class opponent who had a win over the current superchamp), I will have to take Gavin Rees and Nicky Cook off the British list as they won their titles off European level opposition. Dunne's win meant a lot more than either of their's.

    not sure what you mean, I havent mean discussing the whole "per capita" world champions debate.

    I simple made a list of all the current fighters that are eligible for an Irish title fight and ranked them in order - not sure what all the who-ha is all about to be honest.

    But it always seems to go that way on Irish topics here to be honest. Some people just cant help themselves.

    I wasn't questioning his eligibility for Ireland, just his claim (in Louglans post) to the world HW title.

    Its no big deal and I've no axe to grind on this, I just thought I'd point out it was pretty "iffy" claim to the title.

    Dumb move on my part getting involved I guess, I'm blaming it on boredom after a 2-10 shift.

    it took bernard dunne something like 15 pro fights before he set foot inside a professional irish ring. He's definitely from Ireland.

    Same can be said for Andy lee, Duddy, Steve Collins, jimmy Mclarnin even....

    Having said that, i dont give a **** where a fighter is or isnt from.
    I think the ranking system is absed on fighters who are eligible to fight for irish titles and have stated that they would be willing to do so..

    Taking that point, I really dont see what the problem was here....

    theres a difference between ranking and irish born and bred fighter who goes to another country, and someone who has irish roots thats never had a fight in ireland.

    half the england cricket team
    greg rusedski

    mate of mine from belfast won the english ABAs knocking out a future european champ. just throwing that into the mix on the fighting in ireland/england debate

    Stop fightin shít monkeys and I will think about putting you up the rankings! Your whole career should be focused on moving those rankings and my opinion of your ability - which is rock bottom at the moment. ;)
