Adolfo Ramos vs. German Valdez, 4 rounds @ light middleweight

 

Ramos is 0-1. Valdez is 3-5-1. The fight after this, before the "special gear & ticket raffle", is between a couple of guys in their pro debut. The main event is a 3-0-1 kid taking on...yet another debuting fighter.

Domínguez and Rodríguez are light years away from being world class, but they are still a clear few levels above the rest of this riffraff. I'm floored they weren't the main event.

 

10-9 Valdez (the southpaw)

 

Neither of these guys look very good but Ramos should feel embarrassed being made to look so amateurishly clumsy and whiffing so badly against Valdez, who is coming off a five year layoff for some reason (last seen getting knocked out by unbeaten prospect David Grayton in June of 2014)

 

20-18 Valdez

Borderline unwatchable, really.

 

Color commentator: yeah, Ramos is a good counter puncher.

(Ramos has literally not thrown a single counter-punch all night)

 

El Guerrero is what I like to call "walking truth serum"

 

Valdez throws a lead left hand, while Ramos is standing there not punching.

"There it goes again, that check left!"

Painful listening to commentary like this.

 

Shutout for Valdez, although he didn't look too hot either, just better than Ramos, although he was buzzed in the final minute and clinching.

Play by play guy "Ramblin Ralph" has it a draw.

So, while I was taking out the garbage, this happened:

Zeliko Stipatic KO2 Darryl Brown, in a scheduled 4-rounder at cruiserweight

According to the commentators, Brown had Stipatic hurt (maybe dropped?) shortly before spitting out his gum shield & getting stopped himself.

 

Christopher Edward González vs. Giovanni Muñiz, 4 rounds @ welterweight

 

González's nickname is Güero, a term you have probably heard even if you don't speak a lick of Spanish, in the Beck song "Que Onda Güero" (which translates into "What's Up Whitey/Blondie", the way his Latino friends would greet him growing up in East LA)
