Who was the Iron Chin Extraordinaire of 2013? Who showed us that he can take punishment without going down? Choose one and explain why you think his Chin had the best 2013. Note: it doesn't matter whether the fighter won or lost the actual fight. All that matters is whether he showed an uncanny punch resistance. Also, fighters who have such good defense that they very rarely get hit are not eligible for this honor. That's why Floyd and Rigo aren't on the list. We will probably never know whether they have an iron chin or a glass jaw.
the way golovkin took flush shots from stevens and barely flinched scared me... this kids got a grotesque chin
carl froch has a greater chin than all them put together no one else on the planet would of got up from his first round knock down against groves, also round 6 proves even though im not a huge froch fan that the man has to be up there with the likes of oliver mccall
Matthysse. He took quite a few left hooks from Garcia that he couldn't even see coming because his eye swelled shut. Those same left hooks destroyed Khan and Morales.
Danny. He took clean shots off a legitimate puncher in Matthysse, and didn't even flinch. He was buzzed by a punch off Zab Judah, but it was one he didn't see, and he just barely buckled. His chin is legitimate.
it's rios every year. it's his only elite attribute. same goes for chavez. total dicks but great chins all the same and froch of course. after those three, the next who impressed me the most this year was garcia
He didn't take any 'flush' shots... Ate a couple of decent punches but his chin is still pretty untested. Bradley, Froch and Guerrero should be on that list
Donaire and Golovkin both took lots of hard shots from hard hitters and didn't go down. Froch went down and got up on wobbly legs against a fighter who had never hurt any elite-level opponent before. Good chin? Yes. Iron chin of 2013? Only a nut-hugger would say so.
Two clear winners would be Froch and Bradley, who took severe punishment over the majority of the fight, god knows how the OP missed those two. Froch fought two heavy hitters in Kessler and Groves, took their punches flush on and carried on. Against Groves, who he got badly knocked down by in the first, got up, then got repeatedly buzzed and hit flush by powerful Groves punches. Bradley took a terrific beating against Provo and I couldn't see any WW take all of that and carry on without being TKO's. I'd have to give it to Froch as he took a sustained beating of tremendous power over the course of the entire fight. Coming back from that heavy knock down in 1 was quite amazing.
Are you being serious? The shot that knocked Froch down was a peach and to say Groves can't bang is ridiculous. Froch might not be the best boxer around but one thing you can't question him, is his chin and heart. He got out-classed, out-gunned, out-muscled and out-smarted yet he stayed in there.
