I don't throw around the term iron chinned loosely. Usually applies to fighters that have never been stopped, potentially never even dropped. The elite of the elite.

Few of the guys you listed have me scratching my head.

Liston had a good chin, but you can argue Ali floored him with a shitty punch going backwards, and Leotis Martin legitimately sparked him out dead cold.

Dempsey was knocked out cold during his career.

Barrera was knocked out twice in a row against Junior Jones.

**** happens in boxing, and whether old or not getting sparked out like Liston did, getting knocked out in general... Its a knock against your durability in my opinion.

Liston's losses to ali were very sketchy and the 2nd one was def bull****, same thing with Dempsey with fireman JIm flynn that knockout was suspect and A lot of people thought it was fixed but I understand what your saying, they have have good/great chins but not "Iron" would you consider Lamotta to have an iron chin? he's been stopped before

Marvin Hagler had it all. Skill, power, and a great chin. Ray Leonard had it all.

    Others?

Mike Tyson, JCC, RJJ, JMM, Duran... these guys were really complete fighters.

Power and chin? As mentioned above... Tua and Foreman. Mercer and McCall had great chins and good power.

As for Hearns? Great boxer and great puncher IMO... Chin? Not so much

Yeah, I see your point but very few fighters who actually fought good fighters retired without a KO loss on their resume. Only 3 HW Champs never tasted a KO defeat... Tunney, Marciano, and Bowe. True, V. Klitschko was never down and has a great chin but he does have 2 TKO losses on his record. Tua was never HW World Champ. Valuev and Ibragimov have never been stopped but were never Lineal HW Champs.

Barrera technically was not stopped by Jones (LDQ5 because his corner stepped in the ring)... but we all know he was really stopped. The rematch was actually a close decision win for Jones. Barrera was stopped in 11 by Pac and went the distance with Pac in a rematch. 75 pro fights... MAB was pretty durable IMO.

No he wasn't first fight his corner stepped in the ring, second went the distance

I have a bigger issue with calling the likes of Barrera, Basilio, Hagler bangers than iron chinned
