Bowe had a good chin, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it one of the great chins. It's not like he faced a lot of big punchers. He showed an abundance of heart in the rematch against Golota, who is a good puncher but terrible finisher (if he could finish Bowe would've been gone in either round 2 or 5 or even 7), but let's look at other fights. Holyfield hurt him in the 5th round of the rematch and almost had him out in the 6th round of the rubber match. Hide hurt him every time he landed clean. Unfortunately for Herbie, Bowe also hurt him every time he landed (or didn't land at all). I can't compare that to other guys who took bomb after bomb from BIG heavyweight punchers and didn't go down, or took awhile to go down.
There seems to be some confusion between having a good 'chin' in purely genetic terms and being 'tough, determined' etc with a never say due attitude that just won't quit. It would be interesting to see people point out examples of the difference. Some people have both, while some have the toughness to get them through. The genetic freaks like McCall and Andrade that just don't seem to feel the punches are incredible though.
