Prime for Prime, using whatever year of the fighters career as you fancy as their best.

Iron Mike Tyson vs Evander Holyfeild who do you think wins.

Both very fast, and durable. Holyfeild has the edge in skill, Tyson has the power. Who do you feel wins this fight?

Tyson was a better defensive fighter than Holyfield and Angelo Dundee said Tyson was a better combo puncher than Leonard or Ali, Holy was not more skillfull, watch a Tyson film study, D`Amato and Rooney drilled into the perfect pressure/counter puncher but his power had no effect on Holy!

Holyfield would not have stood up to Tysons uppercuts the punch that he was easily hit with.

Holyfield beat Tyson twice because unlike most of Tyson's opponents, he wasn't scared stiff and ready to be KOd before the bell rang. Douglas and Holyfield both showed what happened when opponents stood up to Tyson. He folded and got KOd or found a way out some other way.

Tyson 1986-88 beats Holyfield (any version of him).

Holyfield beats Tyson from 1989 onwards (& did twice).

Holyfield beats Tyson 9 times out of 10.

Holyfield is too physical, too durable and ultimately better on the ouside, middle and inside.

We have to remember yes Tyson wasn't the young version but neither was Holyfield.

Just imagine if Tyson had to face the young, roided to the gills Holyfield of the Bowe fight.

I know Tyson was past his prime when they fought but so was Holyfield. Holyfield had been through three wars with Bowe (and stopped in the third fight) and he didn't look particularly good against Czyz preceding Tyson I. Boxing people were scared for Holyfield's safety going into that fight (except Lou Duva, who put money down on Holyfield and said he was going to put his grandkids through college). So really neither guy were in their prime and people thought Tyson had more in the tank and would steamroll Holyfield.

Now with all that said, I think Holyfield still wins in their respective primes but in a more competitive fight than we saw when they were both past it. I think Holyfield just had Tyson's number and knew how to fight him.

Why is there even a thread about this ??

They fought twice and both times Evander whooped the bully, even made Mike give up by the second round in the rematch, the ear biting was an intentional attempt by Mike to get himself DQ'ed.

Oh and before any deluded idiots say that Mike was past his best by 1996/7, well that may be true but so was Evander, don't forget prior to the first fight Holyfield had been TKO'ed by Bowe and looked like **** against Bobby Czyz.

ANY version of The Real Deal from 88 onwards whoops Tyson, The Real Deal had the bully's number.
