This would have been one of the biggest fights in history, and at one point it looked likely to happen, between two of the biggest names in American boxing, ever. So, who wins, in a fight at Heavyweight, taking place in 2004, between Roy Jones Jr. and Mike Tyson? :think
hmmm, If Jones can last 4 rounds.. nah screw it, going with Tyson by brutal KO. He still had bang even then.
tyson still had the potential to land something big in the first four rounds. fighting jones something medium would be more than enough.
even that faded version of Tyson would shatter Roy's Glass Jaw. One punch is all it would take. Jones could not even take the punches of Glen Johnson.
As much as I love Iron Mike, in 2004 Tyson wouldn't be able to catch Jones. Jones wins wide on points.
Tyson's hands were still pretty fast. Perhaps not "Tyson fast" but the were a bit above your average heavyweight. Jones does not have the size to try any 'holding and leaning' tactics to wear him down. Even with Jones' speed he'd get caught and Tyson would knock him out fairly easily.
Tyson KO. Jones could dazzle him for a long time or a little, Tyson would've connected at one point, and in '04 Jones's punch resistance was shot.
I just watched the Tarver v Jones trilogy, and the G. Johnson fight today...and I would agree :deal I'm thinking about ordering Hopkins/Hill/Toney as my next RJJ fights.
