It seems to all and sundry like the plan for Amir Khan is to face the winner of the Morales / Barrios fight for a WBA/IBF/WBC unification. Now this would obviously be excellent for Khan to have on his resume, but does anyone else see the great irony in it?

A few years ago, when Khan was plying his trade under the promotional banner of a certain Mr Warran, and having suffered his first defeat, the most likely route to the top of the sport would be via some bull**** soft WBO title fight.

It now looks like Khan will reach the top of the Light Welterweight division having won all of the belts except that one. Just goes to show what a change there has been in his career over the last few years.

hate that word.....what do americans say when they want to resume doing something, like start back at the gym.....its a c.v not a resume, and im saying it like im starting to do something again like im resuming it.

mental use of the word, can anyone see where im coming from?

Miguel, Résumé and Resume mean different things and are pronounced differently. One means to star again and the other means…

But yeah, a CV is clearer without the special characters. But it doesn’t really fit well with boxing.

The words résumé and resume are pronounced differently as well as meaning entirely different things.

Which is fair enough - I kind of like it. It sounds nicer than CV.

I guess it's a fairly interesting point, but there isn't much to say in response?

You could say that for pretty much anything. I think CV and resume are fairly common and you can usually guess the context from the surrounding words. To be fair, you need to know your audience. But I prefer to discuss a fighter's record.
