Look, I despise Mayweather the man, and dislike Mayweather the fighter but I must grudgingly accept that he is the best of this generation. Post-fight, why are fans booing Mayweather and asininely claiming the Pac actually won last night's epic mega Non-Fight of the Century? Why all the butt-hurt, irrational hate for a man that didn't thrill us last night but, nonetheless, fought a calculated, smart, safety-first fight that served him very well against an opponent who seemed just happy to be sharing a ring with him? May was the champ and the unbeaten one. . .Pac was the #2 guy and it fell on Pac to force Mayweather to show his true colors, whether those of a latent warrior who was going to put it all on the line when pressed or those of a latent coward who was going to shrink and turtle up when faced with Pacquiao's "one-thousand left hands". In the end, it was Pac Man who deceived us into thinking that we were going to see the man who dismantled Cotto in 2009. Instead of seeing those "one-thousand left hands", he was actually out-thrown by May, something completely unacceptable. The Pac we saw yesterday was a ****tier, more watered down version than the one we saw in Bradley 1. . .the true blame in this underwhelming "super-fight" lies squarely on PacMan for failing to want it bad enough and for not really coming to fight with any sense of fury or urgency, even when extremely behind on the cards. PacMan is finished as an elite-level boxer.
Ofc he's the best. But if you want top quality boxing skills coupled with bonechilling power and ruthless aggression. Only 1 man sergey KRUSHER kovalev.
Pacquiao made the fight boring by not fighting. Floyd was doing his thing, making Pac fight how he wanted him to. Pac could not get going.
Good points. This whole notion that "Pac would keep coming" seemed to be proven false. The man was very wary of that right hand. Everybody KNOWS Mayweather is not going to take chances unless YOU FORCE him to. Manny wasn't able to impose anything on Mayweather, so Floyd did what he needed to do to win, while minimizing risk. Like a true tactician. Floyd vs Maidana I was a tougher fight. Manny wasn't willing to go out on his shield, that is for certain. I was actually surprised and figured he'd say "F it" at some point during the bout and we'd have a bit of a fight. You could argue Ricky Hatton was able to bring more of the best out of Mayweather than Pacquiao. Again, different styles and attributes between all these guys.... but it just seemed Marcos and Ricky had that "F it" mentality I am talking about, while Manny had a lot of things on his mind.
floyd brought it to himself. juiced to the gills. not a peep of usada test, where it was the sticking point in five years of back and forth. drained pac of blood non stop. nevada judges. floyd always finds ways to screw his own legacy. would have a better fight if it was a level playing field. floyd cant win with out the deck stacked for him.
As someone adequately put it: "Mayweather should hug his wife and beat his opponent, not the other way around." Boring, cheating prlck with gift decisions, who in the world likes such a filthy combo.
