its not silly, he wasn't chasing good offers and you know it.

loudon offers you the proof, and you pretend its not there.

How would you know? It seems to be an acknowledged fact that he made Hopkins offers.

He was a SMW. Hopkins was their main target and he was at middleweight. No reason to go to LHW without a big fight being on the table

He only moved up for the big names/big money when those fights were on the table.

What does Hopkins have to do with anything? He was a career long MW .
Hopkins was never a realistic factor till he moved up to LHW.

Which he could have done at any point during the prior 10 years.

The Tarver fight was on the table at one point and he quacked his way out of that. Just like he ran from Glencoffe THREE times.

the truth is so obvious that he moved up when he thought they were shot 2 shyt, its like a hammer hitting you on the head.. suddenly joes 20 year fear of flying gets magically cured when he sees these guys getting old.

His name is in the thread title. He was probably Calzaghe's main target for a big fight.

He was as realistic as any other big fights and probably the best option.

There were no guaranteed big fights during that time frame.

    When exactly? And source please?

    Why didn't he target

    Jones Jr
    DM
    Dawson
    Tarver
    Erdei
    Johnson.

He got Hop and Roy immediately as soon as he moved up. Why?

Because he went to to The States and made the fights happened for himself.

He claimed he couldn't fly during his ten year bum run.

Why not do that instead of being ridiculed by the media and being relegated to Eurosport for fighting a host of WBO rated soup cans?

We don't know that he didn't target those guys, however...

Probably couldn't realistically afford Jones Jr. Would have been a bad career move anyway. Hopkins was a better more realistic option.

Not sure how much money a DM fight would have made him. At that time his goals were unifying at SMW and getting Hopkins.

By the time Dawson was worth chasing, Calzaghe had better options.

By the time a Tarver fight was worth chasing and was a realistic option, Calzaghe had better options.

Erdei was never really a big enough name to justify moving up in weight. Clearly he was only willing to move up for big name/big money fights.

Johnson was also never really a realistic option worth chasing.

He was able to get those fights straight away because he stayed at SMW and got big wins to make himself an attractive proposition. He was an attractive proposition because he was a unified champ with some good wins on his record. Before that he would have been unable to get fights against those two. Staying at SMW was clearly a great decision.

    Source please?

incidentally its another example of joe faking a fight with a name and then in reality settling for someone shyte.

calzaghe didn't, he was pursuing retirement before someone not old came along like dawson.

NO only facing injured Kessler and refusing him a rematch uninjured opened doors for him. HIS LAST SMW FIGHT, not the rest.

    Thanks for the source.

That link does indeed suggest Joe had a genuine fear/dislike of flying even though it has no actual quotes from the man himself. Good job.
