Yes Starie did beat Woods. Starie when on form was a very talented boxer who could hit. He very clearly outboxed Woods.
Starie was beaten by talented D Francis but was arguably ahead when caught.
Late in Staries career he lost to Thysse but that was a fight he was winning and then suddenly seemed to dip late on (Similar to Wlad when he lost to Brewster), and I seem to recall that altitude was a big factor.
When Calzaghe beat Starie it was really like a similar level for Froch beating Groves

Groves hadnt won a European title before he fought Froch, so complete flop by you again.
At the time Groves fought Froch 1st time he had only had something like 19 fights and only won British and Commonwealth titles same as what Starie had won when facing Calzaghe

As an amateur Starie also was an ABA MW champion

they arent equal, groves was world class all the time, capable of winning the euro title and proved it by beating Chunky who was world back then, and on his way to elitism today.
Starie wasnt EVER capable of beating someone world class, nor touched that level once in his entire career.
