Irrefutable proof that Dawson was weight drained and had been KO'd in sparring.

Ward is a great fighter, if the fight was at 175, Ward probably would have still won. But it's no secret that Dawson's skills have declined a lot over the years. Dawson can no longer throw the left cross correctly. You watch his fight against Diaconu he was throwing the left cross at will. You can see that Chad was trying to implement what Steward was teaching him. The results were good, he just showed a lot of ring rust so he wasn't that sharp. In the Ward fight, Dawson was simply implementing what Scully taught him during training camp; fight in the pocket, establish the jab, and try to catch Ward coming in, terrible strategy.

Chad has changed trainers too many times over the years, combined with bad career decisions, it's no coincidence that his boxing skills have gone down. If Ward dropped Virgil Hill as a trainer and hired Freddie Roach two years ago, Ward would not be the same boxer he is today.

I also want to point out that in order for taller boxers to establish the jab, they have to use foot movement to create distance.

One of the reasons why Wladimir's jab is so effective is that he uses foot movement to create distance. Against Ward, Chad was throwing the jab at Ward's range, he wasn't using any foot movement at all, Chad was a sitting duck, and you wonder why he was getting hit by every punch Ward threw. Also Dawson was weight drained, which is evident by the way he was throwing punches. The trainer deserves some of the blame for the poor preparation.

He wanted to capitilize on his win over Hopkins and get a big money fight. There was no other way to make that kind of money other than to go down to 168 and fight Ward. He can't draw for **** and Ward's team knew this. Pretty simple really...

Its pretty lame to use this as any kind of an excuse for what we saw.

Dawson's deficiencies were exposed by Ward. Ward was keeping his lead left outside of Dawson's lead right foot. This in turn made it far easier for him to land that swift jab and those short left hooks on the inside.

What was also made even clearer is exactly how poor Dawson's footwork is compared. I saw against Hopkins, Dawson had some trouble with B-Hop's horrible lunging, struggling to create space and punching room. Against Ward his footwork was once again almost static. Ward just moved at a different speed, made Dawson look ponderous.

I'm not saying Ward knocks him out at light-heavyweight, that's quite a statement to make. But he would once again comfortably outbox him.

I'm eating crow..... I thought we'd see a compeitive boxing match between Chad and Andre. I never expected Andre to dominate....Not that I was surprised that Andre won.....just surprised how easy he made it look.

I heard the rumors about Edison knocking out Chad during camp.....but really didn't pay the story that much attention.....Miranda can crack....period. I never wanted to validate the whole "weight drained" excuse becuase I was very impressed with Ward's dynamic performance.....but reading those texts ...tweets or whatever....it has me questioning what a rematch looks like if it takes place at 175 where Chad is champ.

I'm not saying that Andre wouldn't win @ LHW.....but I have to guess it would look a little more compeitive than it did at 168. Like I said.....I'm still in awe over that utter domination I witnessed las Saturday. Chad isnt a "B" level vet...but that's exactly what Ward made Dawson look like.

I see you're point however....if BHOP couldn't expose Chad....who is a "little" more experienced, crafty and savvy than Ward.....why was Andre so capable of doing so? The obvious is Andre is younger, faster.....more aggressive.... But to me Ward reminds me a lot of a youthful Hopkins...

Just saying.....Nard specializes in taking away his opponents strengths....controling the pace of his fights and making his opponents fight "his fight"...Andre had success where BHOP failed....why the extreme difference in their performances in their fights with Dawson?

with that being the case, why do you imagine the fight was held at '68 John?

When if it was even held at the '70 Dawson had requested Ward could have taken the 175 lineal title, Ring belt, and all that along with the much better bragging rights?
