A few did. It wasn't just me and Carlos :D

I saw Collazo v MAG and thought this guys gonna be a *****. He clearly has skill, it's just about whether he has the intangiables to implement it.

Then I saw Collazo lose and I didn't think it was indicitive of him being ****. Just looked like a good boxer who got caught with a big shot, got hurt and ref jumped in. He got caught with something I couldn't see Hatton producing.

Collazo won the belt on two weeks notice. Rivera winning the 154 title before the fight still didn't wake people up.

Fact is, Collazo is a good fighter. The natural size was the major issue I think. Collazo had height, reach and natural size on him. Their weights were roughly the same but Hatton manafactured muscle in about 6 weeks and admits he cut corners knowing he was going up in weight.

It is enough in my opinion, he struggled but this doesn't mean he sucks, it's just that Collazo's style was too difficult for him.

Hatton's style requires him to be physically strong.

Add to that the fact that he's 5'6"

Its no wonder people think he'd have trouble at 147

Hatton is almost the same at 147lb, maybe more Fatton style,
but other guys are much bigger and stronger than the likes from 140lb..

Hatton came in at 149 thats only a 9lbs weight gain from his weight in, Castillo came in at 153. Hatton is short with short reach so he uses his strenght a lot, pushing his opponents around and throwing hooks and uppercuts on the inside, this style suits better with smaller opponents. 147 is not as good for him.

I agree but remember, when Mosley was at 154 he was lifting way to much, so i think the one was saw fight Collazo was more geared for speed and combinations...But still, Mosleys fast combinations always did the job back in the day so i dont know...

But i agree, Collazo has a good chin.

Collazo is a not only a skilled southpaw, but also Huge for 147, he can fight easily at 154. Hatton fought him in his first fight at the weight so it was very difficult. Floyd, not to discredit him, fought small 147 pounders in his first two fights at the weight (Mitchell and Zab, who came from 140), so he was more comfortable at the weight before facing Baldomir, a big welter.

hattons team picked the fight to win another title at another weight class, they underestimated collazo, they thought hatton would tear through him to an impressive victory since collazo wasn't in the ring top 10.

We still don't know how good Collazo is. He lasted the distance against Sugar Shane with one hand. I wanna see him in another big fight, I think he beats Margarito and Cintron, but he needs to prove it.

Hatton's likelyhood of success is based on the opponent at 47. A naturally smaller guy going up like Floyd will make the weight less of an issue. A guy like Margarito?? Would make it much more difficult.

As for Collazo?? being a SOUTHPAW and a decent boxer had much to do with Hattons difficulty. Hattons best body shot is his left hook downstairs which took out JLC. The southpaw stance and Collazo's ability negated the effectiveness of that shot. It clearly affected Hatton's performance.:good

Understandbly people will always say that based on Hatton's dismall showing against Collazo. :yep

His 5'6" frame is not made for the 147 lbs division. Let's just say that 140 is his best fighting weight.

As much is it sounds strange, I think physically speaking (skills aside), Hatton will have an easier time with Floyd and with Cotto than he had with Collazo, because Collazo is a southpaw and also naturally bigger than Floyd and Cotto, and also has a better Chin than them. Hatton wasn't capable of hurting Luis with his power shots but there's no doubt Hatton can hurt both Floyd and Cotto (No doubt Cotto can hurt Hatton too, and Floyd can at least bust him up).
