Here in USA they are always claiming how "deep" welterweight is. But I questioned that. Let's look at the top 5: Thurman: legit, A level operator PAC: ATG legend. On the decline. Rumors of poor sparring Spence: appears to be the no 2 guy behind Thurman. Bright future. DSG: good fighter. Has 1 official loss, 2 unofficial. I think he gets beat by Brook, Porter, Spence. Brook: High level operator. May have bone density issues. Suffers consecutive eye fractures. Career may be limited Porter: a tough night for everyone, but can be beat as he's one dimensional. Honorable mention for Matthyse and David Benavidez. And Lamont Peterson. After that, the division drops off considerably. Jessie Vargas, inactive Bradley, Sam eggington. Adrian Granados, etc. From the looks of it, it appears that Spence and Thurman can reign in the division.
I'm going with stacked if they get active...JMM, Broner, Khan, Horn & Guerrero too. Lots of talent in almost all divisions right now!
How deeply stacked is any division? At 147 I think you had a top 3, Spence Brook and Thurman and a 2nd tier with the likes of porter, Garcia, banodivez etc and I agree the level below that. I've dismissed pacman he is done and just hasn't realized it yet. But I think it's the same in all divisions. It would be great if anybody could beat anybody in the top 10 of a division but there is never more than 3 or 4 at the very most at one time
Thurman Spence Brook Porter Manny will be 39 years in December and is way past his best Garcia is a six-toed lego-haired freak who should've been 2-2 in his last 4 going into his vacant WBC 147lb title shot against Guerrero. His 2 wins came against Rod Salka and a a shot Paulie. And Garcia's opponent in that vacant title shot was Guerrero who going into that one was 2-2 in his last 4 but should've really have been 1-3 if not for corruption which netted him an undeserved win against a journeyman. And besides, Garcia has been Thurminated now. He toast. Brook will be heading up North very soon, either that or he'll head off into the sunset and call it a day. Bradley is old and done now too. Lucas is godly but he's shot to smithereens due to all the wars he's been in, and he's blind in one eye too and he's not even a real welterweight. Of the new blood coming at 147, the Mean Machine looks promising and he can punch holes in castle walls with both hands. But can he take a crack on his chinny, chin, chin? But anything he hits with his fists is going to know all about it.
175 is best talent wise. 2 P4P plus a bunch of contenders Ward, Kov, Stevenson, Gvozdyk, Beterbiev. Badou Jack, Barrera, Smith Jr.
No problem. That highlight vid is from December 2015 and he's fought a further seven times since it was made. I need to see how well he can take a solid pop on his whiskers before I can make any bold predictions of how well I think he'll do. But he definitely hits really hard with both hands and he's pretty fast too.
