    The short answer is no.

Once again, we have to define terms. When some people say "great," they mean in some sort to hypothetical head to head sense. When boxing historians say "great," they mean in terms of what they accomplished in their era.

As a head to head fighter, he has got to be up there, although this is much harder to judge, and I still don't think he beats Lewis. A couple of others would give him a good run. Evan Fields, prime Tyson, Forman...

In terms of accomplishment...he is a ways off of breaking the top ten. Number one is out of the question. There are just a LOT of other heavyweight champs who have done more. Hell, there are guys who never won a belt who have done more.

Fury has gone from being underrated to overrated very quickly.

Lewis, Ali and others would beat him H2H.

His record still isn't enough to crack the top 10 Heavyweight of all time either.

So he can never be a YES for you, no matter what he does rest of his career he can never be H2H #1?

    The answer is still no.

Prime Lennox Lewis would beat him far more times than not.

    I disagree.....

    But hey...

Lewis's jab and right wouldn't land like you think they would and Lewis's chin wouldn't stand up to the power Fury has now

I don't think any 1 fighter beats all the other ATG's, they are great for reason. They know how to fight, ring IQ, toughness, heart. You name it, ATG's have it. Would Fury be up there, H2H yes. Does he beat every ATG. no.

What power? It took Fury multiple rounds to stop Wilder. Whyte is a journeyman.

Lennox wouldn't freeze like Wlad did. He would go looking for Fury and probably knock him out.

A 6'9 man dancing around him, those feints, the counters?

Would be a rough fight for a 34 year old Lewis

I never say never, but what is he going to do to beat...

Ali. Beat multiple acknowledged greats including Liston, Foreman, Frazier, Patterson, Norton, Moore, Foster...

    Louis. 25 defenses.

    Marciano: 49-0

He's wasted too much with drug problems, long lay-offs, phone retirements, litigation, etc.

I don't see a path unless he fights on until he is 40-41 and really makes the most of it, and he sure isn't talking that way, is he?

POST SCRIPT: I am sorry, I now see you said H2H #1. Yeah, that is a much lower bar, but also much more subjective. If he stays in is and wipes out Usyk, Joshua, Ruiz, and a good sting of others...I could see it. But again, I don't think it is going to happen.
