Is 30 old for someone of Manny Pacquiao's style?

Constant head movement, throwing hundreds of punches... putting power into nearly every shot... not to mention how much he uses his legs in fights... surely his shelf life is shorter than someone of Mayweather's style?

I don't know.. just kind of reminds me of how much Tyson declined when in his late twenties... granted that was to do with a lay off, i wonder if Manny will follow the same route considering how many all action battles he has been in?

I wouldnt imagine Manny could get much better at 30 but he lives extremely well & is really dedicated so anything is possible.

he should be way past his prime/peak now. started at age 16 as a pro and he is always a come forward fighter way before he became a boxer-puncher as his style now. he is even worse as a teen when he will eat a lot of punches from full-grown man and would just win because of his toughness. but he managed to change to his present style and this could add a cuple of years to his good career.

Well, I have to agree with you that those wars waged with EM and JMM take off years a fighters career. But as you have seen of late, Pac is evolving into somewhat of a technician who prefers going in and out before retaliation comes to on his way. That can prolong his shelf-life. Even a battle-weary Gatti benefited from it during his reign as WBC champion.

Lastly, as you grow older, experience takes over and you have to do things you don't normally do to compensate what is now lacking since his younger days. Pac may turn slower but his punches more accurate and his defense much better. Things like that. Look at Hopkins, he started as a power-puncher into a stylist who makes his opponents look bad.

No, he's got three to four more fights in his prime. Then we can talk about him getting old. Not fair to compare him to Tyson, why not compare him to Margarito who doesn't show any signs of wear yet either?

Since the Daiz and Oscar fights Manny has left these mortal shackles behind and is now officially immortal.

For a stretch with the Larios fight, Solis, and then the Barrera rematch it looked like would burn out quickly, but he pulled it together this year, but I think we'll see some fading after Hatton since there will be no other great challenges except for the Marquez rubber match, which he isn't enthusiastic about.
