Is 35 the commonly accepted age for fighters being out of their prime?

Joe Joyce put on a lot of natural mass in his 30's and so has Fury which makes them better in many respects Joyce especially.

Depends on discipline and how your career is managed, I was not a fan in Vargas’ time but it sounds like he got thrown to the lions way to soon. Now we complain about tune ups but I think they have their time for fighters who fight top competition regularly.

    Bruh...

Floyd went through half a decade of emotional meltdowns in interviews before he stepped up to fight a Pac that had been knocked out. And then dude used PEDs to add some extra insurance.

Meanwhile Pac wanted desperately to fight Roidquez again and he fought Thurman at age 40 and chased Spence and Crawford at age 42.

Pac and scared should never be in the same sentence.

Don't be a hater, man. Show some respect.

Depends on a lot of factors. The Thai fighters are past their prime by the age of around 25, but they start fighting too early. If one starts boxing late, like in his early 20s, his prime could be by 35, as I said - depends on the lifestyle, health and depreciation. By no means a man of 35-40 or slightly above is old, there're some sports where you can reach your best at an age where in others is impossible.

35 isn't old anymore. There are a lot of things a fighter can do to be at the top of his game until maybe age of 40

You mean when Floyd was puss scared running around juiced and all masking through his IV in his extra large sized contracted ring back footing all night looking petrified kind of like all the years prior when he avoided Pac

Yes, that is why only 9 of boxrec top 50 right now are over the age of 35(a few more will cross that milestone in the coming months).
And only 3 of those 9 hold a world title.
35 is pretty damn old, no matter how you look at it.

Age has nothing to do with prime.

Wilfred Benitez and Fernando Vargas were done before they were 30.

Depends on how much damage you take.

The average brains reaction time starts declining at 24.
Vargas and Benitez got done in by the punishment they took, can´t argue with that. One of my favorite examples of punishment shortening careers is Hernan Marquez. He looked done at the age of 25.

But guess who kept going despite numerous beatings? Gabe Rosado. And he looked pretty good even a few years back. But if you paid any attention to him, you saw that he suddenly looked gun shy in his last few fights. He has been a counter puncher for a while now and he clearly can´t react in time to the openings he finds.
His age finally caught up with him.
