I think 50-50 would be a good split for the Williams-Pavlik fight if it takes place....

PAUL HAS HAD TO GO THROUGH 2 TRAINING CAMPS WHERE KELLY BACKED OUT...IT COSTED HIM MONEY TO GO THROUGH THOSE TRAINING CAMPS...

I THINK 50-50 IS FAIR CONSIDERING THE CIRCUMSTANCES...KELLY IS A BIGGER DRAW, YES....BUT THE FACT IS HE COSTED PAUL WILLIAMS MONEY BY BACKING OUT OF 2 TRAINING CAMPS REGARDLESS OF WETHER THE INJURY WAS LEGIT OR NOT...

    VOTE!

I think it is fair...PW is a pretty popular fighter now and pavlik's stock has gone down until this fight happens....I wish they would negotiate where the winner gets 60-40 in fights like this

Pavlik is the defending champ and a bigger name (not by much though). I get your point though.

60-40 or 55-45. Unless ofcourse Pavlik himself agrees to a 50-50

50-50, and if for any reason one guy has to back out they have to pay the other man $2K for every day from the final press conference date to the date of the fight to cover the training costs of the other man barring extraordinary circumstances such as a serious car accident.

I think it's fair. Pavlic is the bigger name but Williams has made some noise lately where as Pavlic has been out of action somewhat. I agree with the other poster on a 60-40 to the winnner, it would always make for a better fight IMO.

Goosen did ask for a 50-50 purse split. He ask for a 50-50 co-promotion. He did that solely because Arum already told him that would never happen 6 months ago. That pretty much took the decision making out of Pavlik's hands and put it in Arum's. It allows Goosen to keep PW in protective custody.

Who's Pavlic? I've never heard of any fighter named Pavlic.

Pavlik is the champion and the bigger draw so Pavlik deserves a 60/40 split in his favor.

That's debatable. Neither guy is much of a draw so if the two decided to argue in terms of who is a bigger draw, it would be like two midgets arguing over who's taller.

Now Pavlik IS the champion and that pretty much automatically slides the split towards him.

Paul Williams has been fighting better competition than Pavlik recently. But that alone doesn't mean you should make as much as the champ, especially when more people will be buying the fight for Pavlik than for Williams. 60/40 or 55/45 in favor of Pavlik seems ideal.

Pavlik may not be the draw that Pacquiao or Floyd is but he is obviously a bigger draw than Williams, so how is that debatable?

60/40 might seem fair to you, but they were offering 1.2 million. Which means that for it to be 60/40, they were counting on like 3.0 million in total payout. That's bull****.

They offered 1.2 so that Pav can make what? about 6 million? That's sounds more like 83% to 17%.

    Think about it.

Pavlik isn't even on the same drawing level of a Shane Mosley or a MAB/Erik Morales type (aka the lower rung of PPV buyrate material). Pavlik vs Taylor II and Hopkins vs Pavlik both brought in under 300K and Pavlik's last HBO fight was the lowest rated title fight they ever had.

Basically Pavlik isn't a big enough draw over Williams to demand a massive shift in the purse split.

It's not debatable -- especially not in Atlantic city -- and that's where the fight would tke place.

47-53 in fav of pavlik is where it should be imo....

Pavlik lost any type of serious negotiating power when he dropped the fight the first couple times but williams IS STILL the challenger...
