Is 50-50 a fair split for williams-pavlik?

There was rumor that Kelly was going to make at least 4 times as much as Williams with that ridiculous $1.2 Million offer.


That would make it 4.8 to 1.2 million. That's a 80-20 spllit when it's all said and done.


Now tell me. Who thinks that is fair?

 

To be fair...I remember two instances where he was going to fight the man and the man stepped back.

Ultimately, we're looking at a situation where both parties seem to take turns trying to **** one another over. The Williams people seem happy to want to fight Pavlik on "their terms" which border on unreasonable and insane. Top Rank's people seem "happy" to fight Williams...until the fight time comes then things get hairy. They also seem unwilling to bend in cases where there needs to be flexibility. This has been an Arum trait for years but by design. Goosen and company seem unwilling to bend because they're just poor at fight negotiations. It's like Snidely Whiplash against Dick Dastardly in a 'Who's a bigger *******" contest.

 

Which means your *****-ass boy Cotto would be laid to rest if he grew the nuts to step from behind Bob Arum and take his beating like a man.

 

About 6500 from Youngstown showed up for the first JT fight. Pavlik/Rubio sold out 6500 seats in roughly 30 minutes. PW has never sold 6000 tickets in his life.

Purse splits and co-promotional issues are two different things. It's pointless for people to discuss whether or not a certain purse split is fair when that is not the issue. Goosen demanded a 50-50 co-promotion. That took control completely away from Pavlik, and Goosen knows that.

 

Williams - Margarito was sold out. Period. Now shut the **** up.

I would argue that Pavlik has a significantly bigger fanbase than Williams. Basically no one knows Williams outside of the hardcore boxing fans by general sports fans might know Pavlik.

 

The $1.2 million for PW is accurate. You pulled the rest of those numbers out of your ass. Pavlik would have made about $2 million.

Yes. I said it was rumor. I never said it was fact, but it came from people who would definitely have a much better idea than anyone on these boards.

So I specifically said rumored. But even so, do you really think Pav would only stand to make 1.8 million of Williams is getting 1.2? That would mean a measely 3.0 in payouts. And we all know the payout will be much much more than that.

Simple math really.

 

You're not making sense Boo. You just got through talking about how many people from Youngstown alone would be making the fight. Paul had a little over 3,000 alone just for Sergio.

And the PPV would do a lot better than you may think.

 

Pavlik-Rubio is nice but that's in Ohio and unfortunately it's not necessarily relevant to Atlantic City. Lockett-Pavlik had 7000 tickets sold with an estimated 4000 coming from Ohio. The gate for Pavlik-Hokins is all over the place with numbers ranging from 8 to 12K.

Williams-Margo was a massive event that sold a lot of tickets. I wish I had legit figures but off the top of my head I believe it had over 13K there. I wish I had the numbers.

I won't doubt Pavlik's traveling fan base is large and covers A LOT of ground...but I'm not necessarily sure I'm suporting the basis that they would bring 8000 of themselves for Pavlik-Williams. That to me just isn't plausible. Let's not even get into the PPV numbers which were brutal.

You won't hear a peep out of me on 50-50 co-promotion. I mean Goosen can't even promote on his own but he wants 50% of Top Rank's action No sir.
