Why are you guys making such a big deal about Pavlik being the champ and he deserves more money when there are many instances where guys who weren't the champs made more money!

I'll give you 1 example Tyson made more money than any of his opponents!!

I voted for Pavlik at 51.37%
    Williams at 48.63%

    Should be fair.

i'll tell you this. i don't care one bit.

i don't care how the fight gets made. i don't pretend to hold myself out as someone who is sitting at the tables. i am a fan. i just want them in the ring.

Look man Kelly Pavlik never backed out of nothing , he got legit injuries and camp Williams got itchy feet and decided they could no longer wait for Pavlik ala Williams Martinez .

50 - 50 is a joke , Pavlik is the unified MW champion Paul Williams is a blown up JrMW he does not get 50 - 50 on this fight its ludacris !!!!!!

What Al Haymon & George Peterson need to realise is that Paul Williams is still not a box office draw and thats there fault , they should be throwing him into fights to get title's at pretty much what ever the split to get him his belts and to boost his profile , at the moment Paul Williams against any of the top 3 - 4 fighters in the world @147 and against Pavlik @160 is getting the lesser split .

I heard he was offered $1.6M to fight Pavlik which is low but if he wins that fight there will be no more paydays of $1.6M , nobody worth shouting about @147 will fight him , there is no payday of 1.6M @154 so whats the problem !!!!!!!!!!!

There was no recent discussion of a 50-50 split on the purse, the gate, or the endorsement money. That is not what Goosen demanded. He demanded a 50-50 co-promotion of a fight card with a Top Rank World Champion in the main event.

Kelly Pavlik would have every right to tell Bob Arum to make a deal for an equal split on the purse, the gate, and/or the endorsements. He does not have the right to tell Arum how to run Top Rank, and therefore, he does not have the power to accept a 50-50 co-promotion on behalf of Top Rank Incorprated.

Goosen's demand took all negotiating power away from Pavlik. In addition, Goosen demanded something Arm told him "no" to 6 months ago. Nothing has happened to change Arum's mind, and Goosen knew that when he made his demand. When was the last time Arum gave another promoter 50% control over a show that featured a Top Rank World Champion in the main event?

It seems fair enough, both are big name fighters and it will be a risk for both of them.Who ever loses will have some re building to do so they should share the purse equally for a fight like this.

It's simple: Pavlik's the star, he brings the money. Williams doesn't.

I wasn't comparing him to Tyson in any way but I was letting people know that being the champion doesn't really mean as much as you think!!

I used Tysons name because he someone that everyone on this site heard of!

Even more importantly: Kelly Pavlik lost a lot of his fans(outside of Youngstown) because of his most recent level of competition and if you ask any objective boxing fan who you would rather see fight and i'm 95% certain they would like to see a PW fight because PW fights are exciting win lose or draw!!! PW usually wins!!:blurp

You think 1.6 million is low????

He was actually offered 1.2 million. That's a 25% drop in what you considered "low" So while I am not personally against him getting a little less, there is no way that Williams deserves to get that little, no matter how many Pav junkies on this site talk about Pav being some international superstar...

Fair is fair. Team Pav actually needs to pay him for the camps that were set up the first time he pulled out the fight... OOOPS! The first TWO times.

    Be fair.

A star could/would/should sell more than 4K in his hometown!!!

    Miguel Cotto was/is a star
    Zab Judah was a star
    Floyd Mayweather is a star
    Tito Trinidad was a star
    Hopkins is a star
    Roy Jones is/was a star
    Klitchko's are stars
    Hatton is a star
    And the list goes on...................

A star can sell a stadium out by himself against low level opponents

At one point Pavlik had star power but now he doesn't!!!

Paul Williams doesn't have star power but he's gaining momentum cause of his willingness to fight dangerous opponents and willingness to fight all 12 rounds!!!

They're both calling each other out so they can't complain about 50/50.
