Is 50 cents a bad promoter or is he being blackballed?

Just found out 2 hours ago, that Gamboa was fighting Saturday WTF!

Something is going terribly wrong here. He's always in exciting fights even if it's against a bum! I enjoy watching him where's his press?

Fitty is finding out you don't just walk into a business you know nothing about and become a major player.

Blackballed? I have to laugh. Nothing stopping him from renting an arena and putting on fights just like any other promoter. But you don't walk in and say 'I'm a rapper and now I want to promote" and expect HBO and Showtime to start throwing money at you.

It sucks for Gamboa on many levels. He went into this whole thing thinking Floyd AND 50 were going to promote him.............................Sometimes in life things dont work out the way they're supposed to. This is a major example of that.

That's what happens when you mouth off to a real Gangsta in the business.

I always thought it was idiotic to talk **** to DLH as soon as he became a promoter. Are you ****ing stupid!? That man owns the most powerful stable of boxers and you publicly disrespect him?

So then DLH freezes him out and his fighters are either not fighting or fighting cans from here on out.

He burned bridges with GBP and Mayweather, now he only has Arum to work with. The snake of all snakes. Good luck to his fighters Gamboa and Dirrell, but they aren't going anywhere. Dirrell dropping Haymon was probably the worst career move he'll ever do.

    How is he being blackballed?

He can get work for his fighters by renting an arena, selling tickets and putting on fights. Who is stopping him from doing that, and how are they doing it?

It's going to be tough for him to work with Arum, considering he had plans for Gamboa and the way he dropped out of the Rios fight and went over to his enemy Mayweather. 50 cent is pretty much out of the loop negotiating with anyone.

Promotional contracts promise fighters X number of fights per year at X pay rate -- it may decrease in number of fights per year over the course of the contract and increase in pay rate per fight or whatever, but the bottom line is that the promoter's end of the bargain is that he will pay the fighter at an agreed-upon rate a certain number of times each year.

If Fitty has fighters signed to such contracts, as I presume he does, then he'd better go about living up to his end or he's going to be settling some high-dollar lawsuits. If he puts on fights he can offset losses by selling tickets, but if he breaches contracts he's going to end up paying out what he owes without any chance of making money back at the gate.

There's a reason that few upstart promoters who try to start at the top are able to pull it off.

Gamboa's first fight back off was on a Top Rank PPV undercard, 6 months ago. Now he's back on HBO after burning them with the Rios debacle. So he could have done a lot worse with these guys.

Ditto Dirrell, he dug his own really deep hole way before 50c ever came into the picture.

Has nobody but himself to blame. You don't swag in and talk **** to Americas biggest promoter like he did and not expect ramifications.

Hoyas responses to him looks funnier and funnier.
