Is 80-20 purse split in favour of Peterson a fair deal?

TBH i think he know if he doesnt give khan a rematch he wont be doing business with HBO or Golden Boy again, and looking at the other options in the division (Maidana, Matthyse, Bradley again, Rios) he doesnt have a lot of better options

    90-10

Take it or leave it, but it really depends on the purse.

How much did Peterson get from the 1st fight.

Actually, thinking about it some more, from a business perspective, Lamont can start negotiations at a ridiculous figure and see how badly Khan wants the rematch.

I'd say 70-30 for Lamont, no less than 50-50.

Always cracks me up when these excitable fanboy ****wits start getting all worried about how much money a boxer is getting paid vs another boxer.

who gives a **** you little cretins?

    Face facts.
Even if Peterson outperforms his last performance, he will likely lose with just a 2 point spread.
Peterson will be seeing a heap of risk in the rematch.
If I were him, I'd use the split to negotiate a more neutral venue. If Khan wants the fight in England, I'd say "sure", 80-20 split.

spot on, if Khan insists on a UK venue then this would increase Petersons bargaining power. The fight will get made one way or another - speculation in the media indicates Vegas as the likely location though, would love it the UK though

A Champion has just been dethroned not because he threw or landed less punches but because of fouls. Were the fouls headbutts, low blows, or elbow punches? No, the champ lost his belts because of pushing! Has anyone ever heard of a Champion being dethroned due to pushing?

I just became a fan of Amir Khan. Makes me wonder whether the fight would have been stopped if it was Amir's eye that was swollen. Few outside of the U.S. will see Peterson as the legit champion unless he can beat Khan in the rematch. A 50/50 purse split is still more than Peterson will make fighting anyone else other than May or Pac. They both need each other now.

Champ and winner of bout 1 deserves the big half but maybe 60/40 to 70/30

It's not like Khan absolutely needs a rematch. Belts and championships don't sell fight any more, names do, and the fight was close enough for a lot of people to say Khan was arguably the winner (I'm not one of them). If Peterson wants cash, even 40% of a Khan fight would be better than 60% of anyone else. 50/50 is fair to both fighters.

No that would not be fair. A 50-50 is not even fair since khan is the bigger star but he might have to settle since he got robbed of a W in their first fight.

Khan is the bigger name and the draw, but Peterson is the champion and Khan lost the first fight. It should be 55/45 or 60/40 Peterson.

I'd say around 50/50, or even 60/40 for Khan. with some fine print that Khan gets the UK revenues and Peterson gets a % of the U.S. revenues.

Khan is the international draw. Peterson is still just a draw in his hometown.
