I understand that Vitali's health left many of us feeling stupid, and most lost faith in him. And I also understand that many of the members here hate his guts. But from an objective point of view, would a healthy Vitali, with 75% of his strength during the Lennox-Kirk-Corrie-Williams period be good for the division. I'm not stating that he will be its savior, but would it do it some good?
Definately, he'd be better then 85% of the other clowns there now. Plus, he is recognizable and has some stock as a heavyweight. The heavyweight division could use him if he could remain healthy.
The worst thing about a healthy title holding Vitali is that if Wlad holds the other one, two or three main alphabelt belts - It freezes the division into the Klitshcko's division. They've said they wont fight one another cause of a promise to Mama K - It does the division and our sport no good to have two brothers never fight for the undisputed title. Now if they have a falling out...THEN you have my unadulterated support.
What no...I disagree, a division where both brother hold 2 belts each, imagine the headlines. Every fight they fight will be more broadcast because every opponent is seen as fighting not just one Klitschko, but the Klitschko brothers at once. This would raise a lot of eyes, and I thing the heavyweight division would be more viewed, at least the high level. Neither of the brothers will attract as much as Tyson did, but two brothers at once , might just do that.
Also, if Wlad beats Iggy (most likely to happen), and Vitali beats Maskaev/Peter (most likely to happen), three of the belts will be held by the Klitschko brothers.
Not sure I agree with that. You ever heard the saying that if an NFL team has three quarterbacks, they really don't have any? Same thing. A division with two heavyweight "champs" really doesn't have a champion at all. Maybe if they actually fought each other it would create some mainstream publicity, like when the Williams sisters were both at the top of their games and playing each other in tennis tournaments, but if they never fought I don't think the public would be that interested.
He is my favorite fighter if he makes it into the ring....however if he should get hurt again and call off another fight he should retire. but if he makes it through training camp he can still be a wrecking machine.
Being a champion is about beating all comers - Not sharing with your brother. The HW division is suffering with the splintered title - We need clarity, not brotherly charity. We need clarity in the glamour division of the sport.
He is also my favorite fighter, and like him or not you must admit that a fighter with his KO percentage, power, size, unique background/lifestory, and impressive discipline to always be in shape, supremely conditioned, and well trained...............his return will certainly be good for the division, no question. But this is assuming he can maintain a decent fight schedule/pace, if he wins a title that he has to defend. But as has been said, the two brothers not ever fighting each other will be somewhat of a hinderance to unification, if/when Vitali wins the WBC. But as I see it, the chance of all the titles being brought completely together is slim, anyway........so two brothers holding all the titles is much better than having them all four held by different fighters, as it has been for so long, now. But as has been said, all four tities, in some combination, being held by two PHD 6 foot 7 inch brothers who look alot alike...........that is also not without its own marketing power. I think it may be a good thing and if sold to the public and media, it could bring alot more attention to the division, at least for a while........
Honestly tennis and boxing is somewhat different, for instance one can really hurt someone. A friendly game of tennis is not a friendly game of boxing, and if it was a friendly game of boxing, the fight would be so boring and it wouldn't answer any questions. Plus, Wlad said it himself if they fought, Vitali would've won. What Vitali did to Saunders and how he stood up against Lennox, Wlad can only dream about. And I think the two of them on top, and soon might be, if Vitali and Wlad win their next fights, it would be quite legendary in the heavyweight division, and would start a lot of talk in the communities that do not really follow boxing.
