Is a move to 55 inevitable for Aldo , and can he dominate that division too ???

    Ok , so Aldo blasts another opponent out and still no talk of him moving to 55 ???

    Why not ???

    Should he make the move , should the UFC be doing more to push for it , and can he compete in that division the way he has in the WEC FW division ???

    It is inevitable.

    I don't think Dana wants to cancel out some top dogs. Same way he won't match up GSP and Silva thus killing one of their aura of invincibility.

    Aldo has an invincible feel about him and to send him into 155 vs Maynard, Penn and Edgar is too soon as somebody there has to lose.

    With Penn having lost, his invincibility is now gone. Aldo has notched up another defence. White said Aldo has to conque his division but if he keeps on like he is then there will be no one to fight.

    Aldo is a big name in the WEC. To move him would be unwise as the WEC is now coming out of its shell with Torres, Faber, Aldo etc

    He has only defended his title twice. I don't know why everyone wants to rush him out of the division.

    Hard to know what that means in Dana's eyes , after all he still beleives GSP and Silva havent yet cleared out there respective divisions :lol::lol: i like Dana , but this keeping a superstar in each division is really detremental to the fans , and not what he's been preaching from the start , it goes against everything he's been telling people he was setting out to do !!!! which is bring us the biggest fights , if Aldo loses then so be it , but im sure as **** more interested in watching Edgar vs Aldo than i would be Edgar vs anybody else in the 55lb division :deal including Maynard

    Exactly like i am with the 85 lb division and Anderson Silva , id rather see Sliva fight any of the top 5 - 8 205 'ers than anybody at 85 :deal maybe Sonnen aside but thats a whole different topic ...........

    Anyway i digress ..................

    The marketable thing for the UFC to do is allow Aldo to carry on defending his title @45 , and stick him straight in with Florian !!! , the un marketable thing for the UFC to do is , not move him at all , or put him in with a wrestler (Maynard , Edgar , Griffin , Sherk) and the likes , that said out of the previous mentioned id only really fancy Maynard to be able to nullify Aldo and squeeze out a decision , the rest IMO are getting KTFO :deal

    Therefore you do 2 things , you keep the WEC interesting , as like you say it really is just starting to take off now , and when you break the divisions down , there not that deep really , which is why there are 2nd rate LW's filling gaps , and you create a superstar as big as the GSP's , Silva's and Shogun's of this sport , could you imagine the hype surrounding this guy if he goes in there and KO's someone like Florian or Gomi :D i mean it just makes perfect sense , to me anyway ............. :thumbsup

    I think Maynard could bully him for 3 rounds on the mat. I'm interested in seeing how Aldo would carry the weight.

    He's demolished every top fighter he's met in the WEC , including Faber , Brown and Gamburyan , without ever looking in any kind of trouble .

    Its clearly obvious that he would do the same to a lot of the top fighters @55 too , so why not ???? :think

    Also, wouldn't it make more sense for Aldo to test the waters at 155 in the WEC?

    He has actually talked about dropping to 135 to win the title, then going up to 155 in an attempt to hold 3 titles :shock:

    I don't think he would be as dominant at 155, but he could make a good run, and given the right circumstances win the title.

    It is all pretty hypothetical though.

    Amazing that he could make 135 though, although that is just his claim.

    I'd say it will happen eventually but not any time soon. Theres still a lot of interesting opponents for Aldo like Josh Grispi, Mark Hominick, and Chad Mendes plus theres always the prospect of Frankie Edgar dropping down to FW or Zuffa signing some international talent like Hatsu Hioki, Michio Omigawa, or Bibiano Fernandes. Besides Aldo claims he can fight at 135 so he might still have some growing to do before he move to LW and fight comfortably.

    Id like him to move the move to 155 now. There are tough guys like Grispi, Mendes, Vazquez at 145 but the elite fighters in this divison or proven elite have already been trashed by Aldo. Move him up in weight and see how he handles that. TBH WEC has a weak Lightweight divison so make Aldo vs the winner of Henderson-Pettis for the belt.

    I'm going to have to disagree with this. It just so happens that the majority of elite 145ers fight outside of the WEC, but there are a still a lot of good fights for Aldo within the promotion.
